According to this Serato article, while Pioneer has provided drivers that work with El Capitan, there are still known issues and Serato does not yet support use of the S9 with El Captan.
Hi,
I have a problem with S9, Serato DJ and Pioneer Setting Utility.
This is what happens:
I connected the S9 to my Mac. Updated the firmware to 1.05. Opened Serato DJ, installed the driver. Serato DJ recognizes the mixer, but won't read the the vinyl/tone (can't play songs). I downloaded the driver update for Mac OS X El Capitan 1.1.1. I reconnected my mixer, and it asks to install the driver. Then it works, but when I restart the program, the same problem occurs, can't control the vinyls.
What can I do?

Make sure your mixer output settings in the S9 setting utility are both set to "CONTROL TONE PHONO"
Hey Pulse, what's the recommended USB Output level setting? mine is set at -19 right now.
I usually have mine at -5dB and make sure I'm usually around the 0 or +2dB mark, so I don't climb above that 5dB overhead. If you find you clip often at that setting, bump it down a notch.
I think you'd need to be on 1.8.1 Beta for this to work properly on El Capitan, but I'm not positive.
