Active Category changes not updating on XDJ-RX

Im trying to have Genre and BPM added to the searchable category on my XDJ-RX. I've gone into the preferences, added those to my category, and even had pop-up ask if I wanted to update those changes when i put the drive in.
But genre and bpm were not added to the deck once I plugged in the drive...

Suggestion?

Did you export at least one track, or make the changes on the device preferences itself (and not just on the rekordbox preferences)?

I don't see an option to change these preferences on the XDJ-RX. I'd love to know how!

I think Pulse means by "device preferences" the preferences of your usb key.
You plug your usb key.
In Rekordbox, click on your usb key in the tree on the left. On the right, select the "category" tab. You can then choose the active categories for your usb key.
Eject you usb key with the little arrow and it should be ok.

That would be in rekordbox, not on the device (XDJ-RX). Trying to figure out how to list the categories on the device! (not just the Info button for that track) The XDJ-RX does have a menu, but no indicators of what categories (or ID3 tags for that matter) will be viewable on the screen in a search.

You don't choose the active categories for your XDJ-RX, you choose the active categories for the USB key you plug on it.

That's why you choose in Rekordbox, the active categories that you want for your USB key (by doing what I told you).
Once you have choosen the categories, Rekordbox will save this on your key.
Each time you plug your key in the XDJ-RX, it will read and apply this.
I don't know if I'm clear...

I get that - I haven't even explored "categories" yet - and maybe I misinterpreted the original question. I was just trying to get ID3 tags to show on the screen (genre and bpm in list format when performing a search on the XDJ-RX). I will try what you suggested, Toonz, and see if this works with this category thing!
