On Mac, you're fine using the built-in formatting utility.
Does the error message appear when you connect the drive or try to load a track?
Hi there if anyone could help me with this it'd be fantastic
So this is my setup at home
2X2000 nexus's
1xDJM 900 nexus Limited
Macbook pro - With Rekordbox
Just purchased a new 500gb Western Digital HDD, re-formatted it to Ms-DOT (FAT) like instructed + Using the master boot record not the GUID partition table. Basically i wanna use a usb powered HDD instead of USB's when i play out in clubs but my cdj's keep coming up with this error message once ive partitioned it. It's driving me mad!
Other forums are suggesting formatting it with a third party piece of software however i cant find one that works good with Mac??
Pleaaaase someone else must be having this issue
Thanks
Sam

when i connect the drive straight away, i've now tried using an existing 320gb hdd and thats working fine but just baffled as to why its not working with a brand new formatted drive... comes up straight away with error 8307, drive spins but nothing happens? so weird? Also, are HDD's stable enough to use at clubs? Would you recommend? Just fed up of constantly deleting stuff on my USB's to gain more storage haha!
thanks for your reply btw!
WD drives are notorious for drawing a lot of power on boot - have you considered using a Y cable to provide additional power to the drive? It's likely that the RX is rejecting it due to the power draw exceeding its ability.
