DDJ SX2 - Jog wheel slowly increases in drag (resistence) while scratching

I am having trouble with my DDJ SX2 jog wheels. When I do a repeated baby scratch on the jog wheel it slowly increases in drag (resistance). If I spin the wheel a bunch of times afterwards it goes back to normal. But baby scratch again and the wheel feels like it starts to stick more and more. I already took one unit back because of this, the model at the store doesn't seem to suffer from the same problem. I have already exchanged one unit that this was happening on. Has anyone else noticed this or have any suggestions on how to fix this issue?

Are you pressing on the platter in an unusual way? I've not heard of this happening before and it's odd for you to say it's now happened on two different units yet the demo model in the store isn't exhibiting the same trait.

I'm not pressing any differently than I did on the floor model. On both the DDJ-SX2 and DDJ-SZ floor model, I was only able to get similar behavior if I pressed very hard down on the platter while doing a baby scratch repeatedly. I own a DDJ-SB controller as well and I don't see this behavior while doing the exact same motion.

@Daniel > It's possible that two (or more) units had the same manufacturing defect, but without seeing the units myself, I couldn't say with any certainty.

Your best bet is to also return this unit for an exchange with the retailer.

Thanks for your response. I appreciate your time. I have been working with the retailer. They assured me that I will be able to exchange the units until I receive a proper one that doesn't exhibit this issue. If Pioneer would like this particular unit for inspection please message me directly. Hopefully if this happens to anyone else they can find this thread.

The shop will likely mark it for inspection when they return it, so no worries - thanks for your patience with this issue and hopefully you're able to find one which works properly.

Thank Pulse for your help. Just wanted to follow up. I returned the controller this weekend because it took them some time to get another in stock. The new one's jog wheels feel correct. However when I opened the box there was a dent in the side of the controller so I will be returning it for my fourth one. Hopefully I won't run into this issue again.
