Hi there,
I plunged in and purchased an XDJ-RX as an upgrade to the DJM400K setup I had specifically as a portable unit for when I want to travel light. First impressions are excellent and overall I'm very happy with the purchase, however after taking the unit out and giving it it's first public test drive I encountered 2 issues that I'd like to share.
Track lock
Problem: accidentally hitting the wrong load arrow and your music stops dead...
Now admittedly this is down to user error, but its something which is incredibly easy to do especially when working in poor light conditions and after having one or two of the free DJ beers you get treated to. This is very reminiscent of the early CDJ1000 issues when you could eject the CD that was playing by accident and all of a sudden you shut the music off completely and look like an idiot. Is this an issue that has been flagged, and how / when will this be remedied? A firmware update perhaps? I very much hope so as I fell foul of this on two occasions on my first outing and I've been DJing for 20+ years...
Hardware freeze
Problem: Music is playing but system freezes, leaving DJ unable to cue next track
This is something which is a major flaw. This only happened on one occasion, and luckily I had an extra line input so was able to fade into another track, pull USB out of system and reload. Had I not had a line input I would have had to stop music and reboot, killing the dancefloor...
So all up some teething problems. This was all over an 8 hour period so for the most part the XDJ-RX worked a treat, but the issues above do make me a little worried about taking it out the next time.
Has anyone else encountered similar issues, and are there any planned fixes, particularly for the track lock feature?
