Beat sync MASTER switches to slave deck during syncing

I often use the sync feature to transition to a different tempo. During mixing, the master will sometimes switch from live deck to slave deck, screwing up the mix. Any way to prevent this? Did some searching, but couldn't find anything. CDJ2000 NXS with Rekordbox

@koobah > Effectively, the master deck will remain the master so long as it is playing normally. If the track comes to the end, you stop playback - either with CUE or PLAY/PAUSE, touch the jog (to scratch, or pause the track), use the needle search, create or engage a loop / hot-loop, or put the deck into reverse, it will switch the master to the other deck (so long as that deck is playing). Engaging SLIP will allow you to do most of those functions without losing the master status as the track "continues" behind the slip function.

I think that the automatic switch from slave to master is done based on how long the slave track has been playing and whether one deck is stopped or not, so if one is mixing from A to B with a very long and smooth transition there's a high chance that B will become master before the mix is finished.

I normally do not use sync so I do not know how this behaviour influences an auto-synced transistion, however I like to have the master and slave correctly assigned in order to use the traffic light system for the key matching.

The solution is pretty simple, just push the Master button on the deck that you want to keep as master. If you foresee that your transition will be long push the Master button on the deck once in a while, this should reset the timer that handles the automatic master/slave switch.

Also, you might want to have a look in the CDJ's menu to see if there is some sort of setting to enable/disable the automatic master/slave change. I don't know if it's possible but it's something that it's worth to check.

Julia, thank you for suggestions, though I'm very familiar with the basics of sync and how master/slave works. I normally don't use it either unless I'm transitioning from say 130 to 105. Like I've said, most of the time everything works fine until for some reason the slave deck becomes the master. Usually, my transitions don't last for more than 8 bars, so what I really would like to find out is what exactly triggers the master deck to become the slave.

@Pulse: that's it, it must be the loop created on the master. Will try looping in slip mode and see what happens. Thanks man!
