I'm considering up grading my system with some legacy Pioneer equipment possibly two CDJ 400s and a DJM 400 mixer. However I want a balanced mixer output from XLR to connect to my powered speaker set up. I would also like to use fader start on the decks.
Can anyone suggest a similar sized mixer that has XLR outputs? Will other brand mixers with a fader start feature be compatible with the decks?
Any advice appreciated.

If you're after a higher-end mixer just for the output type it's probably not worth the cost of admission. You can always use an RCA to TRS 1/4" adapter to go from your mixer into a powered speaker and save yourself a few dollars.
