Why fix something that's not broken?

I cannot accept the filters on the mixer 900 mk2 they sound embarrassingly dull and  cheap & tacky when used with pitch/resonance effect. Is there anyway I can convert to the much loved filters as used on the 800/900's?

I need to convert or sell this mixer ASAP

No. There is no way to convert them.  Have you tried adjusting the parameter knob to achieve your desired effect?

They were changed specifically because there was a HUGE demand for them to be changed by top DJ's all over the world.  The previous filter was very harsh and came on too strong.  It is now more subtle and can be manipulated with the parameter knob.

I have tried the parameter knob, this makes matters worse and sounds more like Allen & Heath over the top cheap and tacky. The size of the filter knobs also don't help.

I did not find the older filters harsh and the fact that they came in early worked magnificent for combining with other effects and for mixing. I understand that many people didn't know how yo use them appropietly including top DJ's from around the world. I hope pioneer don't go this direction for all future mixers because I am now listing mine for sale. I still have 2 x 900 mk1 which work better for me for now but I hope to upgrade these soon also. I also hope to upgrade 2 XDJ-RX for mk2 when they release and I am now feeling concerned that you put these awful oversized knobs with less results on the next XDJ-RX.

I Strongly suggest at least giving us an option so we can decide and choose what works best for what we are paying for. I've become dependant on the pioneer filters but if your going for the A&H style I might go for the DB4 when I sell the 900mk2

I would love the 900mk2 with the original filters more than anything though.

Please listen to the community not to the tops djs, this filter is not technically good. If you want to adjust your mix accuracy of 100% that does not help anything. there is a remarkable range in which the filter does not affect the sound. if I move the parameter setting only changes the resonance effect.

Attempting to debate the definition of a good vs. not good filter is futile, analogous to debating the age old "Mac vs. PC." It's all about personal preference.

Some people like the bite of a Moog Ladder Filter, other prefer the creamy timbre of a DSI Curtis Filter. Personally, I found the NXS mk1 Filter (sound color FX) resonance to be a bit to strong, in turn creating a bit of harshness in the upper frequency bands–especially present when applied to MP3 and compressed music formats.

The NXS2 Parameter knob essentially controls the amount of resonance applied so that the user can get as much (or little) filter "squelch" that they desire. Is it perfect? Not yet–the resonant notch "thump" that occurs around 60Hz when sweeping the Parameter knob around 1 o'clock, for example, needs to be fixed asap. However, the NXS2 isn't even a year old, give it time.

Furthermore, Pioneer does listen to the community, both on this forum and famous DJ's alike. They're also going to hold a bit more weight with the opinion(s) of a 365-touring DJ/producer (essentially the ambassadors of their products) vs. the local bloke busting his balls at a weekly residency, because the . Is it fair? Debatable. However, that's Business 101 and is a model followed not just by Pioneer, but any company, period.

If you want to go to a forum where your posts don't amount to shit and the company prioritizes shilling over support, I would suggest heading over to Native Instruments.

it's the first time iv'e ever used a forum and it's only because I'm going to lose about 500GBP on this mixer in Thailand. nobody is buying them Iv'e heard from shops selling pioneer DJ equipment. I am now looking to buy another 900mk1 to replace the mk2. there should be hundreds for sale as people should want to upgrade but i see only 2 900's for sale and even the shop keeper explained to my Thai friend that theyre not selling well because of the filters. i used to take the filters often to about 12:30 - 13:00 and at a very little reverb for a couple of sections of a track and kill both of them off on time it always created a bit of energy. The new filters are really not pleasant from 12-15:00 and that parameter button, i'd rip it off if the filters were usable and i decided to keep the mk2. Comments from Puls: "They were changed specifically because there was a HUGE demand for them to be changed by top DJ's all over the world.  The previous filter was very harsh and came on too strong.  It is now more subtle and can be manipulated with the parameter knob.

I am yet to see a pioneer demo video where the equipment has been used to it's full potential. Are these the top DJ's your'e taking demands from?

Could I suggest making a switch i.e, mk1/mk2  good/poor :) to switch type of filter we can use? This be a good option for your customers?  everyone is gonna be happy and people like myself wont be forced to lose a big chunk of cash for such horrific decisions by pioneer.

From the launch of the 800 Pioneer have promoted these filters as state of the art filters with the 700's 800's & 900 mixers over approx 10 years and now you've released a product that uses filters closer to A&H your'e telling is that there not good, too harsh, come in too early. I'm losing faith Iv'e always had in Pioneer. I don't like the direction they're heading. Now they're  jumping on traktor with the controllers and new software.Top DJ's are music producers who some can't mix without support of software and wouldn't know what to do with a vinyl, just  people who's made a couple of half decent tracks and being promoted by agencies.

Copying the A&H's filters is a dirty from pioneer they should focus on improving their own products not pissing off other companies who's just trying to sell what they've created.

I will have a look at this upgrade posted above and would like to thank you all for your comments/feedback/support

Regards,

Bradley
