If you're on macOS, I'm working on a new app the Rekordbox Collection Tool (RCT) that uses a different relocate function. RCT is currently in beta and the relocate function is working, see it in this demonstration

Amazing that looks awesome. Yes I am using Mac OS.
I have had some sucess using scripts in terminal to find and consolidate files, and then using https://github.com/edkennard/rekordbox-repair to repair the library by crossfreferencing the .XML with the music folder. However I am still missing around 600 files.
On inspection it seems random strings have entered the files preventing them from being located. For example, I am missing '8-devon_russel-move_on_up-d1871098.mp3' from rekord box,
But I can find it here
//Volumes/Extreme Pro partition/Missing Music Files/08 Move On Up.mp3
If you think your software could help with this issue let me know and I would happily purchase it from you.
No auto relocate can be perfect. It always relies on information in the database and cross references that with audio files. If one of those variables changes, auto relocation becomes impossible. The Auto Relocate function in RCT uses different features compared to RB's auto relocate. That is why both are complimentary and none is "better" than the other.
For that reason it's impossible to guarantee results. It depends on what happened to the audio files, that made them need relocation in the first place.
XML based auto relocation can work, but is very limited because the XML file doesn't contain any information that can be essential for relocation. On top of that importing XML data in Rekordbox 6 is tricky and would in case of relocation lead to duplicates (one that works, one that doesn't).
