XDJ-RX Screeching noise

I have had my XDJ-RX for about a year now, and have not had any issues with it.  Today, while doing a radio show, the unit seemed to be freezing on me, and when it did, would emit an awful screeching noise for about a second. This seemed to happen every time I touched one of the EQ knobs. I was forced to end my show early because I was completely disabled by the device.  Any thoughts on what might have caused this? Nothing I was doing was different than what I have done many times.

Details:

- Was using it as standalone unit with USB's

- Was recording on a second USB'

- Firmware version 2.20 (I can't even see if this is the most recent because Pioneer no longer has the unit listed on the support page)

The UK site (https://www.pioneerdj.com/en-gb/product/all-in-one-system/archive/xdj-rx/black/support/) does show that 2.21 is available for the XDJ-RX (Pioneer, this is a real problem on the US site, right now there is no way I can find at all to get any firmware for the XDJ-RX at all), though none of the release notes seem related to your issue:

Ver.2.21 (26 October, 2017 Update) [FIXED]  With SYNC enabled certain MP3 files did not sync.  Waveforms were not shown when tracks were imported to some USB hard disc drives.  Auto BPM did not work when selecting MASTER for BEAT EFFCT channel while selecting LINE/PHONO for Input. [IMPROVED]  Beat countdown MEMORY CUE color specification changed to match other cue points.  Accuracy of the tempo slider when the XDJ-RX was used as a controller with rekordbox dj.

Thanks Kenn, I'll definitely try updating that firmware.  Good to know that support for this device is still on the UK website

It's fallen between the cracks because it's an archived product, but yes, the files are still available.

Please do try updating the firmware, if you're able to replicate the problem, please let us know.
