Correct, you only need a switch when linking more than 2 players, or when linking with a DJM.
Pressing LINK on player 1 will access the USB stick in player 2, and vice versa.
Hi,
I'm going to do a set with 2x CDJ 2000 NXS2 players. My question is - I want to use two USBs with different tracks on and use them on either player via LINK. Do i just place an Ethernet cable from one player to the other? I've read about a network switch, however the players at the studio I practice at just had a Ethernet cable from player to player - no switch. Is this normal for the 2000s? Thanks

Thanks for your reply! Can I ask, what do you mean link to a DJM? I will be using a DJM mixer. What features would linking to a DJM give me?
This video probably explains it best: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oy_TmpC6uZs
If linked to a DJM-900 or DJM-2000, the BPM of the beat effects is automatically synced to the master CDJ. Additionally, pressing the QUANTIZE button to the right of the TAP button on the DJM will quantize the beat effects to the track's beatgrid.
If the player number on each CDJ matches the channel number on the DJM, the LED ring around the CDJ jog wheel will turn red when its fader is up on the DJM, indicating that player is on air.
If you're also linking to a laptop with Rekordbox in LINK EXPORT mode, you can preview tracks using LINK MONITOR, without loading them into a CDJ.
Thanks!
