Macbook pro has no way of recording through RCA to 3.5mm jacks so
installed the driver for the DJM 900 which shows up in audacity (recording device - DJM 900) Stereo two channel
USB cable connected from DJM to MacBook Pro
two XDJ 1000's and a CDJ 900 nexus hooked up to the DJM in CD/Line in section
if switched to USB 1/2 etc nothing will play out the mixer
On CD/Line setting music plays out my speakers but audacity will only record through the build in microphone on the Mac ??????
what am I doing wrong?
Settings set to REC OUT for all channels in DJM settings panel
thanks

Not sure if this will help, but Audacity seems to have all sorts of issues recording. I have been unable to use Audacity to record from a 900NXS2 (I use 64-bit Windows, I think that's my particular issue). I was able to use Rekordbox to record from the 900NXS2 over USB (didn't even know before that Rekordbox had a record feature).
@Michael > That's not true -- its only issue is that users expect it to have ASIO support out-of-the-box, which it does not. Once configured properly, it works amazingly well.
@Pulse, you're obviously the expert, and I really don't have a good grasp of audio interface technology and software settings, so I'll defer to you. I will note, however:
(1) - Searching with Google, it appears that there are a number of people with difficulty recording from a DJM via a USB out to Audacity. I spent about an hour over the weekend searching forums and watching YouTube videos, experimenting with various settings, and couldn't figure it out (I'm outputting from a DJM 900 NXS2 via USB to a laptop running Windows 10). So at the very least, it would seem to not be very user friendly and to require some good knowledge of various hardware/software settings (which I confess I don't have). I had no problem once I tried using Rekordbox to record.
(2) - There seem to be forum responses from Pioneer DJ (see https://forums.pioneerdj.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/205359133-How-to-record-with-djm-900-nexus-2-) suggesting that Audacity will not record if installed on a 64-bit operating system and that the workaround is sufficiently complex that other software should be used. Apologize if I misinterpreted this response from Pioneer DJ.
