CDJ-900 NXS Pitch fader disabled

Friday I played in a club on CDJ 900 Nexus and something strange happened.

The pitch fader stopped working on the deck that I was using to cue the next track. I moved it up/down several times but the pitch did not change, it just remained stuck at the value that was loaded with the track. I tried to load other tracks but the behaviour did not change, pitch was not changing at all when moving the fader.

I was not using sync, nothing else special was active (no loops, nothing). When I loaded the track the pitch slider was in its central position. The deck was in vinyl mode with quantize and auto cue on.

After rebooting the deck the problem disappeared and did not happen again that night.

I was playing from usb sticks, the two cdjs were correctly linked with the cable and The firmware was 1.31.  The USB sticks are good and almost new, and I have played with them without problems on CDJ 2000 NXS and on other CDJ 900 NXS decks.

Question is: is this a bug? Have I done something to cause it? Can I prevent it from happening again?

I've not heard of that happening without it being a hardware failure, or being used as a MIDI / HID controller and that mapping element having been removed.

The good news is it came back on after a reboot, the bad news is I don't know what might have caused it or if it will happen again. If you're using those decks again, check to see if you can replicate it and take note of anything that you did just before it happened.
