Track in Cue is always too slow

Something is off with my xdj 1000s. It seems like no matter how hard I try to get these two decks beatmatched, they are always off by a hair. I do read the BPM most of the time but I also play by ear.

The deck in cue always starts off slow, even if I launch it at the perfect time. I always have to speed it up, always. If I set it to .1 bpm faster, it gets too fast. I am constantly having to keep them from going off. I know this is a part of DJing but I also know that something may be wrong.

My pitch was set to +10 for a while but now I do +6 because it feels like it gives me a little more breathing room.

Any suggestions on how to get the cue deck to maybe start at the right speed and not slower? Can anyone relate to this, or is this post wack?

PS. I played technics 1200s since 2006 and just got these two XDJ1000s and a DJM 600 :)

check your "vinyl speed adjust" knobs, they need to be fully anti clockwise for instant start & stop, if they're wound round clockwise the speed will ramp up and down when you start and stop the playback

think you're right that +6 gives you a finer adjustment resolution

other test you could try would be load the same track on both decks and have your tempo slider set to zero, do they drift apart over time?
