Headphone DB output

Hey!

Question, since 10 months I am suffering with Tinitus. I know it's to late, but since it got diagnosed 10 months ago Im wearing ear protection so It won't get worse.

But the thing is, when im playing at home I can't play with monitor speakers so I need to mix with my headphones only (living in an appartement with allot of annoying neighbours). Everything works fine, but the thing im curious to is that how can I see on my DJM if my headphones are to loud? Right now im doing it on the fly, and everything seems to work fine ( for now ), but the thing is that I want to konw if im "safe" in my decibels if you know what I mean. Can I check somehwere (on my DJM or something) if my headphones aren't to loud?

Right now my meter is at +/- 25% open. Is that to much?

The volume output of your headphones will depend on the type of headphones, their impedance, and rated output.

My recommendation would be to adjust the channel trim so the meters show peaks around the first orange LED, then with the fader open and the crossfader to that channel, adjust the master knob so the master meter shows the same level. At this point, the volume levels between the master and a channel will be equal.

Now, the only thing that will make a difference in the headphones is the headphone volume itself - and again, that will depend on your headphones and what you find tolerable. I typically mix entirely within my headphones (no monitor) and when I'm at bigger events, I'm wearing my custom moulded earplugs under my headphones. So yeah, it gets loud, but my hearing isn't going to pot!
