Not sure why it would cut the booth monitors; be sure the settings on your LM44 are for linear-PCM at 16 or 24bits, at one of the supported sample rates:

I am trying to connect a DJM 900 Nexus 2 mixer to a Lab Gruppen/Lake LM44 processor using the digital master out to the digital input on the processor. I have tried using two different Nexus 2s mixers and neither of them will not lock in the digital signal with the processor. Also, when I connect the SPIF cable into the digital out of the mixer it mutes the sound on the monitors. Very strange. However, when I connect the original Nexus 1 mixer the digital signal locks in at the processor and the booth monitors produce sound. I'm not sure why the new Nexus 2 mixer is having these issues when the original Nexus works fine. Is there a special setting on the Nexus 2 to activate the digital master out?
Thanks in advance for the help.

The LAKE is 24bit resolution and set for a 96k sample rate (although it will auto-dect other rates). The NX2 mixer is also set for 96k. As I mentioned before, the LAKE does work with the original NXS so the settings on the LAKE should be fine.
Why does the original Nexus mixer work with the LM44 and not the NXS2?
I can't say for certain, but this is probably a good place to start.
