Hi pioneerdj. I'm Wisco from Cavite-Philippines. I have my new ddj1000 a week ago. But I notice that the crossfader of controller mixer vs the rekordbox mixer is not match at the center. Rekordbox was off-center by -1 line as compare to the controller. Then if I centered it, the crossfader on rekordbox was not moving even I moved the crossfader of ddj1000. Error was +1 line and -1 line from the center.
Is my new ddj1000 unit having the problem or the software or firmware itself?
Is there any actions to resolve this problem? If yes how? Of no, what pioneer will do?

If you still have an issue with the crossfader calibration (the hardware does not match the software) after applying the latest firmware update, please file an inquiry ticket here and our support team will gather some additional information to assist you in resolving this issue.

I too have this problem and I have the latest firmware. I've also reflashed it to previous firmware versions but is still the same!
it also happens if I map the fader in 3rd party software. plus if I remap it to another functionality within rekordbox the centre still has a bad 'dead zone of about 10mm.
both left and right sides work true.... just the centre position has major twitches!
I can't use the crossfader until it's fixed. to me the audio is noticeable in abrupt transition movement.
I, too have this problem. I tried everything... firmware updates, etc...

same here, the centre point is 75% to the right. This is a big problem for scratching as it means I cannot have the lag set to the same amount for the left and the right. I prefer to have a lag of 0.3, but when I select that, I end up with something like 0.1 on one side, and 0.5 on the other side.
Here's a video I took of the problem. Notice how the lag on the left is different to on the right. Notice also how at first the cross fader is not centring, and then later it does centre. After filming it went back to not centering!

You're right Ravinstomper, same on mine, well spotted. Do you reckon this is a software or hardware prob? My cross fader does make a slight scraping sound as it moves left and right, and I wondered if that was a sign of a defective crossfader?

I've mapped it to other 3rd party software with same results. plus if you map it to another function in rekordbox it still glitches.in the mid zone
it was mentioned on another post that cos it's a small amount you won't notice any db difference.... but I sure can.
sliding slow from the left put the cross fader in middle and then toggle the channel switch from b to thru... you can defo hear a volume spike.
due to the way I use the crossfader I'm having to bypass it. and just use the volume faders all set on thru making the cross fader redundant.
I don't slam the crossfader back and forth in my mixing technique... I make long smooth blends edging it in easy and using eqs and gain control to level my frequencies. But when a track has completed over on deck A and the cross fader was left in the middle it's only natural to slide it fully over to B and that's I hear a volume jump!
does yours also make a quiet scraping noise as the fader moves? I'm not sure if that's what all Magvel faders do. Looks like I'll be returning mine.

All I have to do is bring the unit to the dj equipment experts. They said that they will replace the magvel fader with new one. Since it still under warranty.
I had the RZ and that had a sweet fader. traded it for the ddj1000. still a wise decision in any case.

Pioneer repairs who trained and licensed by Japan. Coz, Japan is our designer and manufacturer here in south east asia...

Yup.. I think that is one of the 1st step decision. Coz for me ddj1000 is still the best controller they have design as of now. I dont know if you agreed with me.? Hehehe...

Here in the Philippines.. All they wanna do is to recalibrate not to replace the crossfader. As of this moment Im on my way to their shop to check if the problem resolved. Im hoping.

As ive visited and checked the repaired ddj1000. Pioneer Technical support here in the Philippines still not resolved the problem. And as of now, my ddj1000 cant use and is still under their custody.
We hope that pioneer dj were alarmed on this problem.
So the engineering team has informed me that the reason there are some differences in the accuracy of the position of the hardware to software because the resolution of the magvel pro crossfader in the DDJ-1000 is optimized for the extremities of the fader; in other words, it's much more accurate at the ends of the fader for scratching.
Don't worry 100% about the markings on the hardware mixer, simply move the crossfader to a position where the on-screen crossfader is at the mid-point and the audio will be balanced.
As for the issue @Higher Vibe describes, they believe it's a calibration issue with the crossfader and recommend you please contact Pioneer DJ technical support in your region to have the crossfader recalibrated. Anyone else having a similar issue with the cut-in lag not functioning as expected should do the same.
Thanks for the info Pulse, much appreciated. Is recalibration something that can be done remotely via software? If not, I'm just going to return mine because its only days old. (edited to add: BTW i did already contact support, but not had any response).
It's an in-shop thing.
Re-calibration was already conducted by Philippine Tech but it didn't resolved the problem on cross-fader's center and cut lag.
As per them, they will use the magvelfader of the another ddj1000 unit with good one. To replace into my unit since that there is no available spare parts.
I think the problem on this, is how the ddj1000 was inspected and checked both at your quality side and authorized technicians around the world. I would suggest to improve your inspection standards.
so I reached out to technical support UK and since my last reply from them on Wednesday saying "this is normal" ive not heard anything back to my response and ive chase them up today! I'm awaiting a response.
com on guys... this surely is not normal fader behaviour. it's only on left side to centre!
I'd agree if it was symmetrical but is so not... just from the left!
mine and higher vibes fader is the same with centre problem however my fader cut in does not bleed when either side and I can't replicate the stutter sound when pressing it hard left or right with the setting at minimal .3mm.

As for the fader lag setting and the "stutter," that has more to do with the calibration of the fader itself relative to the position of the fader in the faceplate. You'll note that in some users' videos, it typically only happens on one side due to the alignment. Increasing the lag distance eliminates any possible "bleed."
I'm not convinced this is the way the crossfader is designed Pulse. i get the voltage / resolution is greater at either end for scratching but to have a fail from the left to the centre is baffling.
what about us djs who don't scratch? why are we to suffer??
is this not the same magvel fader in the djm900 nxs2 as marketing suggest? does that act the same way?
surely when setting a design for a 'DJ Mixer-Hardware' the crossfader would have the highest of importance to be the best feature on the mixer?
Regards to the cut lag of things... i can safely say mines working as it's intended.
I'm sure if you had this fault and was told to look at the screen to centre the crossfader you'd be bit iffed!
I only use browser view as that's the way I work. I don't need to see scrolling waveforms to mix I rely on my ears, mood and most of all hardware.
is it possible to send me the 1.3 firmware as I think that was the last know working firmware that I had no trouble with. if it's the same with that then it's 100% a hardware issue. no way is every unit like this from factory. your not the underdog trying to prove yourself... your PIONEER DJ!

Hi Pioneer DJ, It's very sad that my DDJ1000 with crossfader problem was not yet fixed by the Philippine Tech even they replaced the magvelfader from other unit. It's still off-centered.
But they informed the Pioneer DJ Japan through E-mail about this problem. I hope they response as soon as possible with good news.
I got a second unit today, and even that unit's crossfader does not centre, and has uneven lags on the left and the right side. I wonder if there was a faulty batch, or if this is a firmware problem?
man sorry to hear that your new fader acts the same.. this must be a firmware error.
I've only got the beta 905 and 1.05 as I deleted the previous versions after i installed 03 & 04.
would very much like a link to a previous firmware version to test ideally 03
I don't recall my crossfader having issues before they adjusted the curve in 1.05?!?
I'm happy to use old firmware with older copies of rekordbox until this is refined once again.
