Big issue with XDJ RX - now loading...

Hello,

I played in club with my XDJ - RX this week end.
1hour after beginning my set, and when I wanted put a track in one deck, it’s written Loading or Now loading, I don’t remember.
I waited, I waited, I waited. Also « now loading ». Again and again... Impossible to back up, to go to the browse, the deck was blocked...
And 1 minute after, a logo came in the middle on the big central screen, and the sound stopped..
Black out, in front of 200 people.
I had to Restart my XDJ RX...
Thank you Pionner and thank you for the 1500€ paid for having a professional stuff...
It was the second time that it happened.
Why????!!!
I use my XDJ RX one time in a month
I use it with caution.
I use high level USB key (SanDisk USB 3.1 extreme GO 64GB)
Please, help me...
I don’t want to live a third time this issue.

For starters, the ExtremeGo is not a high-performance drive, so that may account for it - and not knowing other variables such as the format, number of files in the export collection, type of file you had playing / were trying to load, firmware version on the player... those can all play a factor.

Hello,

I’m surprised that extreme GO isn’t a high performance USB key.
It’s a 3.1 USB key, and renowned in all forum for its performance.
What is a high performance USB key? It is necessary to have a specific USB key to play with XDJ RX?
Here the details on my key :
I have the version 5.0.2 in Rekordbox.
My key is in the FAT32 format.
In my key, I have 1100 tracks analysed on the playlist file (and the same 1100 tracks in a other file in mp3).
I have 30Go spent on my key (for a 64Go in total)
All the tracks I play are analysed by Rekordbox.
And when my XDJRX crashed, it’s not only with « now loading » written on the deck. The XDJRX stop itself with the logo at the middle on the deck.
Thank you for your help

Regardless of the fact it's a USB3.1 drive, the read/write speeds for the small 4k files (which are used for things like the waveforms and track memory points) is not great.

Here's a video I made comparing several USB3 drives to illustrate that not all are created equal.

Several things for you to try...

1) Update rekordbox; the current version is 5.6.0.

2) Check that your firmware on the XDJ-RX is up-to-date.

3) Format the drive (again, to FAT32), but give it a unique name so rekordbox doesn't recognize it, and export the contents.

4) Try a different USB drive - see the video above for my recommendations.

Hi guys,

I got the same problem on my XDJ-RX (firmware updated). But I can reproduce the problem: once I load an specific mp3 track into deck A (or B), the "now loading..." message comes up and the deck stay frozen. The only way to get out of this situation is stopping the song playing on the other deck and rebooting the XDJ. Every time I try to load this specific track, the problem occurs.

I've found a lot of topic relating this issue (not only on the XDJ-RX, but RX2 too) and the solution by Pioneer is almost always to use a Pro USB drive, update the firmware (both XDJ and Rekordbox), format the drive to FAT32, fix the mp3 file, reanalyze it, etc etc etc...

OK! But that's is not the problem we are dealing here!!! Corrupted files, bad quality USB drivers and such thing is awful, but the Pioneer equipment must not freeze during a set, forcing the DJ to reboot it.. come on! If, for example, a file is corrupted or a USB plugged in one of the ports is damaged, so a message indicating some Error should appear on the screen and allow DJ to change the USB drive or to load another track without need to stop the song to reboot the XDJ.

Now, presented the real problem above, can you help me with this? Can the engineers fix that in a firmware update so the equipment don't get freeze by a corrupted mp3 file (for ex)?

PS: the mp3 file I refer in the first paragraph is not corrupted, I can play it on my notebook (using up to date rekordbox) and I've already analyzed it in MP3value with no errors detected. So my fear is be in such situation during a live show.

Please, I appreciate your help on it. Thank you!

@Pulse

First of all, thank you so much for the support! I've already sent the email with the mp3 file and a link to a video showing the issue.

I just had the same problem on my XDJ-RX. What do you recommend in order to not have this again? Different USB? Less music on my USB?
