DJM900NXS Rekordbox DVS issue

Hi!

On Friday night I went to play at a club and they had a DJM900NXS mixer there, I was under the impression that using DVS would be pretty straight forward so I carried my RB control vinyl and my laptop with me.

I hooked up the PLX1000 turntables into the phono inputs of channel 1 and channel 4 on the mixer, connected the usb cable and plugged it into the laptop running rekordbox DVS, the software recognised the mixer and in the preferences I was able to select channel 1 and channel 4 for timecode input however when I switched the input select on the mixer to USB on both channels there was no signal going into the software, when I switched the inputs to phono I could hear the signal from the timecode but again there was no input in the software.. after trying and failing for a while I just hooked up my serato box and used that instead.. thing is, I really prefer rekordbox and I would rather use it so my question is; how exactly should the DJM900NXS and NXS2 mixers be connected to turntables in order to use Rekordbox DVS? is there any guide that I can follow? a step by step tutorial maybe? cheers.
