XDJ-XZ dust under jogwheel display glas

Hello, I have noticed 2 little dust specs right on the jogdisplay of the right deck. I have seen a similar post here about it on the ddj 1000. As I am still in the 14 days return window I do not want to send it for service and have a brand new unit be opened. My question is if it is likely that the dust got in there during manufacturing or if it just found its way in after i opened it. Also how likely is it to happen again if I should get a exchange unit thats free from that. Because if it just happens and needs to be serviced from time to time if it should bother one its not worth the hassle now. If it is a rare happening I would think about sending it back although they are not realy noticeable while using the gear.

I have not seen this with my 1000s and the XZ being so new, can't say I have see it with that unit either.  We did have one out last week in AZ and it was played with a lot and exposed out of the case for 5 days and no visible change to the displays.  I would expect it would follow the DDJ-1000 and stay clean on the inside.  Just got it, maybe return for a new unit??

I have contacted the seller and the official pioneer dj service center in germany and they said its to be expected as as the jogs are not completely sealed it can happen over time.

The guy from the service center said he is 100 percent sure its not chinese dust but from me. Sending it in and opening it would most likely make 8 spots out of 2 as it is almost impossible to do it in a totally dust free envoirement.

As the left one is clean since i got it i am not sure if this is true but i looked at some service manuals and youtube videos of the jogs in general and there is chance for dust but it is quite limited.

Maybe its just more obvious on ddj 1000 and xdj xz because the glass is not tinted...

They send me a return label despite that but flagged it as "customer did not like it" instead of "damaged" unit. So they can charge me for signs of usage wich it has as i used it one weekend and some smear is in the glossy parts.

So i think i will just live with it as it is quite picky from me in some kind of way and is not disturbing during mixing... Sometimes i see it (cause i know where it is) but during mixing DnB on 4 decks its nothing you have time to look after.

Except this nit picking the unit is a real nice addition to my 2 xdj 700 and the build quality of pots and faders is just so much better than the ddj sx and rx i had to return for this toy feel.

Hello,

I had the same problem ... A big white dust in the middle of the screen !
For me, I found a solution ... electrostatism.
I took a NEW latex balloon and inflated it a bit.
I rubbed the inflated balloon with a ball of yarn.
I approached the balloon near the jog wheel glas.
The dust was drawn to the balloon and I moved the balloon out of the jog wheel glas and the dust moved out of the glas and fell into an invisible area.
Do not rub the balloon too hard to avoid scratching !
You have to do it several times and rub the balloon again each time for this to work well.
It worked for me !

Pascal.

Thank you.

I didn’t want to send it back but, at the same time, it bothered me !

If it can avoid sending it back every time ... :-)

Regards,

Pascal.
