Akai MPX to DJM-900NXS

Hi, I'm looking to incorporate a small sampler (i.e. Akai MPX series) to play pre-recorded samples (e.g. claps/hi-hats/snares, etc) to my current set-up of two (2) CDJ-2000s connected to a DJM-900NXS mixer.

I also want to use the FX of the DJM to affect the sound of the samples, as well.

Is there anyway to accomplish this? Would connecting the ¼" outputs to the RCA line in of another channel on the mixer work?

Hey Tyler,

I'd connect it via the Send/Return loop on the DJM, that way you could use the FX as well as capturing from any source without interrupting the output.

Hi, Pulse:

Would input the ¼" outputs of the Akai into the Send or the Return terminals?

As far as I understand, if Send/Return is selected on the Effect Selector, I will not be able to utilize the effects of the DJM, correct?

DJM Send > Akai Input

Akai Output > DJM Return

Sorry, you are correct - I was thinking about the DJM-900NXS2 which has the S/R on a separate section from the FX; yes, you would lose the ability to run the FX at the same time, but you'd still have the color FX.

I wouldn't recommend connecting it post-master and then returning to a channel as you run the risk of a feedback loop if you ever forget and have the live audio going out to the MPX then back to the mixer ... then back to the MPX, then mixer, etc.
