option Do Not Modify Tag information

Does Recordbox have the option to Do Not Modify Tag Information?

I do not use Serato because each time a music file is loaded Serato modifies Tags. I don't care for Play Count, or Key, or other Tag garb. If I'm not selecting by my gut, I heavily use BPM to parse songs from my record collection.

I use external software (Kid3, Media Monkey...) to setup Tag information on my music library. I prefer this because I'm in control of songs Title, Artist, Album, Comment, BPM etc. Any song added to my collection, I wipe ALL Tags if necessary and format the Tags information to my criteria. I am a turntable for life DJ. It appears Serato is most used by turntable DJs, DJ software is becoming controller centered.

I use my folder file layout to organize my music collection. DJ software will use a database to write/read and cache music file information.

I don't use Serato or NI Traktor because I cannot disable Tag writes. When Serato plays a raw waveform file... it cannot write Tag, they don't exist. Why force it on MP3, write everything to a database...

There are some tags that are written while all tags are also maintained in the database for search. You can see on the matrix here which fields of specific filetypes are read on import, or written on changes.

Unfortunately there is no option to disable writing to the tags as this is not something anyone has asked for (as far as I know).

I strongly suggest this option be implemented. Mixxx, Mixvibes Cross and other DJ software has this feature. When implemented I’ll transition to Recordbox.

I have discovered when transitioning to new software tags get destroyed from analyzing with the new software going back to the old software is now a problem when necessary.

If I make all my music files wave extension.WAV then Tags cannot be written. The feature unintentionally is already there because you can’t write to wave files why not implemented for all the files. This avoids the problem I describe about tags being in advertently changed.

I can use the operating system to make my music file un-writable, can I run Recordbox as regular user and not an Administrator?

Accessing music files to write Tag files are slow compared write/read database... the way I layout my Tags, that's my database, I started laying this out since 2007! Traktor, Recordbox, Serato I will not use if any DJ Software is changing my music files without my permission.

The Tags that must not ever change in my library are Title, Artist, Album, BPM. I should be allowed to determine what Tag I want changed or whether I want to save the changed Tags.If Database and Tags differ, choose Tag (DJ decides)
