Rekordbox license key unlock

I just bought this xdj RX from my friend. He has not logged in to rekordbox in years. He cannot remember his info to log in and release the key So I can register. I have the unit and the key in front of me. The key won't work. I called pioneer dj support and they created a ticket to escalate the issue. They told me to come here in the mean time to see if you can help. What can I do in order to get a working key? I can post pics of me with the unit. Or anything else needed. Thanks in advance.

The XDJ-RX will be able to unlock rekordbox 6 without the need for a key as of version 6.0.1; you can download the beta here.

Ok. What settings do I need? USB or Ethernet?
I have in the audio set to my controller.
What else do I need?

I have it plugged into USB, I click rekordbox on controller and nothing happens. Midi says it's hooked up, but I cannot control anything. This is on my Mac

Nothing. As long as the drivers are installed, the software is version 6.0.1 (per the beta link above), and you are logged-in to an account, you'll see the FREE HARDWARE UNLOCK plan activated under My Page (top right of rekordbox).

Did you allow the driver through the macOS security when you installed them?

It says rx in audio and it did not before I downloaded the driver. So it must have took when I unlocked it.

Just reinstalled the drivers to make sure. Still same issue.

Should I be selecting the rekordbox button, or midi? The midi is the only button that shows connected, but with usb, not Ethernet.

Shows connected, but cannot control or load tracks.

It only shows connected with usb when I hit midi button. The Ethernet cable won't even say connected in rekordbox button or midi. I know it's a good cable.
Going to try on my PC.

Ok, got it working with usb. Switched to performance mode. But can't get Ethernet connected so I can watch waveform on the unit instead of PC.
