1/2 loop function suggestion cdj 3000

When you half a loop on the 3000 why does the playback jump to the beginning of the loop?  This makes no sense IMO.  Wouldn't it make more sense to jump to the correct part of the phrase or measure that was playing in the bigger loop?  Example...I have an 8 beat loop playing and I am between beats 6 and 7 when I hit the half button.  If you ended up between beats 2 and 3 in the new 4 beat loop your phrasing would stay intact.  Right now if I want that to happen I need to half the loop between beats 8 and 1 as it  always jumps to beat 1 of the loop.  Is there something I am missing for the looping to react the way I would like it to or is it not possible in the current software?

It would also be nice if you could move loops around using the same principle.
