Update entire collection from WAV to FlAC

Hello thanks for reading. I use Rekordbox 5 and have my 4000 strong rekord collection tagged in RB5 but almost all of my files are WAV (i purchase them like that).

Recently storage space is becoming an issue and have started to get fed up with the tagging limitations WAV naturally comes with, so wanted update my entire collection to FLAC. However i am SO SCARED of losing all the years of tagging/ Cue points if i change each file, as RB's link to each file would be come obsolete (as it will be a different file).

Is there a correct method to make this transition, with the priorirty being to ensure all previous RB tags are not lost?

I use WIndows 10 PC (though i used OSX for years but i just cant keep up with the cost anymore). Any and all help appreciated.

Thanks in advanced.

Sorry, there's no way to move the tags from one file format to another, especially since the method used to "mark" the position of the cues is not by time, but by frames/samples, which is different for each file type. You can't simply remove one file and then "relocate" it to a different file.

Thanks for responding Pulse :)

Can you suggest a workflow maybe that might automate part of the renaming? I was thinking of importing all tracks new FLAC'd tracks and then sorting by name, then go through the painful process of copy/paste via the tags flyout from WAV to FLAC.

If you know of a better way i'd love to hear!
