Duplicate entries on USB stick

Why is Sync so broken on Rekordbox v6?

I have several albums where on the USB stick every track is duplicated but only on the USB stick.  This is madness. I have ONE collection with one copy of the track showing and ONE USB Stick it needs to sync with. How hard can it be to keep the two in sync?  The original PC database and playlists and albums have just one copy of each file so why is the USB stick deciding to add a second one?

If I ever remove something from my main collection (and hence associated playlists) because there are errors in the metadata the issue occurs. When I then re-import them (as new imports given the old ones are long gone) with the corrected metadata - bang! Two copies will appear on the USB stick when I sync. Every single time.  This is very basic stuff. Please fix it

It sounds more like user error than a rekordbox issue ... why are you re-importing songs?

Thank you for your intelligent assessment.

What is it about "errors in the metadata" as a reason for deleting the songs and then re-importing them (after the metadata has been corrected) you don't understand?

What is it about the word synchronisation you don't understand? Try looking the word up in a dictionary!

This is not rocket science. When a collection doesn't have a set of songs in it because they've been deleted what do you expect synchronisation with a USB key to do? I'll give you a clue: NOT leave them on the USB stick anyway so that when they're later imported and added to the collection and synchronised there are two copies instead of the one in the original collection.

Having songs that were deleted from the collection still left on the stick is just piss poor programming (I know I've been a software developer for 40 years) and is NOT synchronisation.

Have you considered simply updating the metadata by reloading the tags rather than re-importing them? Again, it sounds like your workflow is doing something that doesn't need to be done, thus causing the problem.
