Mixed in key

I've been looking at purchasing this one - most folks seem to love it.

I've seen the demo and the auto cue points look great, as does the option to clean up the comments field to show only camelot info - makes for a much more zen music library.

This camelot wheel looks like an interesting proposition but if honest, I'm not 100% sure how it differs from established Rekordbox features. For instance, I know that you can match a track to the left or right or forwards/backwards (into major/minor).

The part I'm confused about is how this is any different from the existing Pioneer traffic light system which I've only just discovered - great that this exists on the XDJ-RX!

Surely, if my deck is already recommending appropriate tracks based on key info then that's all I need - or am I missing a trick here?

Thanks,

R.

Hi Rob,

The difference is in the analysis. MIK analysis algorithm has the best so far. Every year it is tested annually MIK comes out on top. The KEY is written in the tag that is meant for it. So whatever program analyzed this, the value is written in the same place.
With MIK are you sure that the KEY is correct. Pioneer will say their software is as good but like I said, the test proofs this every year.

What you should know is that the MIK notation is not always displayed in every player. In RB this is still displayed, that's no problem.

You mentioned above, below, left & right for matching the songs, there are many more opportunities though, +2 (+14) and + 7 for example. Buy the book "http://www.mixedinkey.com/Book/" and there you will find more information.
