It will take either one, TS or TRS, I would use TRS for my set up. Also stay 21/4 thru the cable unless you have to get a XLR adaptor.
I just bought a DDJ-SR Controller. I have always had XLR outs on my mixers but just realized, this DDJ-SR has only 1/4 main outputs on the mixer's main output. I'm going direct from the controller's output into my speakers. The speakers accepts either XLR or 1/4 input.
My question is what type of 1/4 cable should I use to go from the mixer out to my speakers? Should it be TRS or just TS, meaning, 1 ring on the 1/4 plug or 2 rings? I think 2 rings is balanced and 1 ring is not. Also, another question is should I stay 1/4 to other end 1/4 or should I use a cable that is 1/4 one end (for mixer output), but XLR other end (for speaker input)?
I am hearing conflicting information as to what is best so I thought I post on this forum to see if there were any suggestions. Does what cable used make any difference?
Thanks!

Thanks Jay. Do you know if there is any sacrifice to the quality of sound if I use a cable that is TRS (2 ring) on the 1/4 side but XLR on the other end? My speakers take XLR or 1/4 but I am having a hard time finding 1/4 to 1/4 cable that is long enough and is 2 ring TRS balanced.
