DDJ-SZ : Failed to connect audio

I'm trying to use my DDJ-SZ with the latest version of Serato, and the latest firmware update on the SZ. However I get the message "No compatible DJ device detected". When I load Serato and then turn the SZ on, it does the think where all the lights flicker around like it's connecting and then the 2 serato decks appear on screen for a split second, then I get the "Error: Failed to Connect Audio" message at the bottom of the screen.

I've already tried setting the Audio and Recording devices on the laptop to their default settings. I've also tried 2 cables, in all the USB ports.

As a side note, the computer itself recognises the controller, when I turn it on I get the Windows "Device connected" noise, and it shows up in the drivers and in the device manager.

Any help would be appreciated!

@Felix > Your default input device should not be the SZ2; change that to your mic or another device.

I changed it and I now have control of my SZ2 but I cannot hear any audio from my device through my laptop speakers.

@Fire > It's not intended to work that way; the SZ2 is an output audio interface. If you want to hear it, connect speakers or route the output from the SZ2 into another audio interface to capture it internally.

Why would the Serato software give me an error about connecting audio if it's not intended to work that way? If the software is trying to connect audio via USB, shouldn't that work? If my laptop detects my SZ2 as an audio input device, why wouldn't I want to select it?
I tested my SZ2 with Virtual DJ and it connects audio just fine.
Seems to me that the softwares intention is to route audio via USB. Why is it failing then? Can it be a driver issue that hasn't been addressed? Can it be the Serato software that is the issue?
Please help!

I've been awaiting a response from anyone regarding this issue since July of 2020. I'm still deciding whether to continue using Serato DJ Pro and it's drivers. Other DJ software such as Virtual DJ seems to have no issues connecting audio. But I've seen answers such as drivers compatibly, corrupt drivers or software, corrupt OS, even inadequate computer specs, yet all I did was install Virtual DJ without any other changes and voila, it works perfectly fine.
In my opinion, the Pioneer DJ and Serato DJ software and or drivers needs to be investigated for issues.
Good luck.
