1) Yes - Both the DJM-900NXS and 2 are "Traktor certified" mixers, meaning they can be used as audio devices for output or DVS input. Just install the drivers for both and you're set in either situation. If you're a touring DJ who may get to a club with a mixer ready for you, it would also be wise to keep a copy of the latest firmware for both mixers on your computer so you can update them just in case.
2) Just because you're using the CDJs as HID controllers doesn't mean you need to use the audio interfaces. Each player can be connected directly via USB. If you're using certain players (the CDJ-2000NXS2, CDJ-TOUR1, or XDJ-1000MK2), you can indeed link the players and then use the USB connection from one player to connect both players, but you'll need to use the special "Link Export" drivers for that. All other players require a direct connection for multiple units.
3) I would only recommend doing this if you don't have a DJM, it just makes it messier. If needed, yes, you would connect them all through a USB hub - we recommend a powered hub.
4) The CDJ-2000 and CDJ-900 are the oldest models listed, but will still perform as well as the others. If you have the ability to request specific models on a tech-rider, may as well start top-down: CDJ-2000NXS2, CDJ-2000NXS, XDJ-1000MK2, CDJ-900NXS... and go from there.
5) Just ask here. We're the source! :)
6) There are, but they're flappin' expensive. Personally, I'm a huge fan of Anker products and I swear by this unit for a few reasons: it's got a removable USB3 cable, the 7 ports are spaced reasonably well, it has a non-slip finish on the back, and the power brick is smaller than this unit (which has 3 charging ports).
