Pioneer WEGO controls don't work

I just wanted to use my Pioneer WeGo controller. I downloaded and installed the Virtual DJ LE version that comes with it. I entered the keycode and set it up exactly as is told in the manual. When I play a song on deck 1 or 2 on my mac it does come through the external speakers I plugged into the WeGo, but the play button or any other button does not work. I can only control it on my laptop. Which is not the point of buying a controller...

Anyone have any suggestions or had the same problem?
