DDJ-XP1 - is it independent of deck pads?

I have a Reloop NEON which I use with Serato, but it takes over the pads of one of the decks even when used in sampler mode. Is the DDJ-XP1 the same, or is it independent?

For example, if I have a DDJ-RZ with the pads set to HOT CUE can the XP1 control the same deck but be in PAD FX mode, or be set to control the sampler without affecting the operation of the pads on the RZ?
