xdj-700 and recordbox

Hey Pioneer

I have a new xdj-700

So playing tunes via the USB function works easily and I've spent most of Sunday reading the various manuals/ youtube advice clips and setting up rekordbox. Rekordbox seems great but.....the entire rekordbox tab doesn't seem to engage on the xdj-700.    When you first install rekordbox it asks you to choose between "performance" or USB mode or some such. Perhaps this is the issue.  I'm exporting tunes and playlists from rekordbox to a FAT23 USB and it only works via the USB tab not rekordbox tab. I want to be able to search for tunes on the USB via bpm and other options. Do I need to install something else on the USB first?.....some wise advice would be greatly appreciated

First, there are a couple of different ways of using the XDJ-700 with rekordbox...

1) XDJ-700 as a stand-alone product

This allows you to use rekordbox as a music management software, where you then export music to a USB device for playback in the XDJ. This is using the USB mode on the XDJ.

2) XDJ-700 linked to rekordbox (EXPORT MODE)

If you use the ProDJ Link (ethernet) to connect your players together with your computer, you are able to use rekordbox (in export mode) as a source for your music, rather than needing to export to a USB drive. For this, you would use the rekordbox button on the XDJ.

3) XDJ-700 in HID mode to control rekordbox (PERFORMANCE MODE)

For this, you'll need a rekordbox dj license to connect the XDJ-700 to your computer via USB to use it as a controller in order to perform within the rekordbox software itself.

To answer your question of being able to access different browsing and sorting options on the USB drive, you need to enable them. With the USB drive connected...

1) Click on the drive name.

2) Click the Category tab.

3) Select the categories you wish to enable.

4) Click the -> arrow to add them to the active list.

Repeat for the Sort tab as well.

You can order them as you like with the Up and Down buttons.

So yeah, this doesn’t seem to work on my setup: 2x XDJ-700 & a Macbookpro13,2 with Belkin USB-C ethernet adapter to a dumb (ok ok, non-smart non-manageable) TP-link switch. I can see the players in the DJ link tool, but have only seen them orange and never green. Ethernet adapter has an APIPA (which isn’t necessarily a problem is it all uses broadcast)
