There are many possibilities with Ableton as the mixer has two sound cards in it. Unfortunately, the only official use for the digital send/return is for mobile devices but there are some users out there who have configured some DIY solutions (at their own risk) to use the digital send/return in different ways. We cannot, however, officially support these methods.
