I was wondering if theres any possibility that i have all my music collection in rekordbox stored at a NAS, which i only can access thru wifi on my computer?

If possible, please kindly let me know how?!

Thanks in advance

I have not study IT & computer science. Look at all the information in that instruction, should it really need to be that complicated? Im not going to use rekordbox while playing anyway, just to organize my music and export it to USB-sticks on my mac.

Please, why is it this complicated? I have 3TB of music i cannot have it on my computer all the time. And its soon 2018, i dont want to deal with cables connected to my computer. Am i the only one?

For some people maybe. But for dumb nuts like me, i think a big company like pioneer could provide me with just a button to click to get it to work. Look at that instruction, its the longest i ever seen. Reading step 4 is like.. ah never mind. I guess i just have to adapt and accept that it doesnt get funnier than this.

If you want to work outside the box, you need to make a bit of effort - and honestly, I wrote the instructions for even the most novice computer user to be able to follow. Give it a try, you should be able to do it! ;)

In finder on mac I have a shortcut to the music map on the server NAS, cant I just drag the whole map into rekordbox and drop in the collection?

You can try drag-and-drop to import, but rekordbox might not like it, especially if there is any kind of latency in loading or buffering files.

@Pulse about your "cloud" guide it won't work for Microsoft OneDrive (always complains database corrupt and only works when you start with fresh database), for OneDrive it is way easier to do this "hack":

https://www.thurrott.com/cloud/microsoft-consumer-services/onedrive/3638/onedrive-tip-map-your-cloud-storage-as-a-drive-in-file-explorer

Then you could move your database in a "supported" way to your OneDrive.

@Etz > Thanks -- like I said, I only tested it with Dropbox and assumed that other systems should work in similar fashion as they do provide the ability for a cloud-synced folder to be the path (eg. /volumes/drive/users/user/Dropbox).

Are you sure you got the absolute path information correct when editing the settings files?

@Pulse, path is correct, tried multiple times and on multiple systems.

If I use migrated database, it freaks out every single time, stating that database and/or its backup(s) are corrupt and spawns new empty ones on its place.

If I start with clean database (which it creates itself after freaking out) and add tracks to it,  it seems to work. Not quite sure what is going on there.

I don't think it is a path issue, or it would not be able to spawn empty database to that same location either... ;)

Anyway, I just wanted to point, that there is an alternative way with OneDrive, which works via GUI as it would work with all other drives with assigned drive letters.

Hmmm... might be some other nuance of the OneDrive file caching causing that to happen. Good to know there's a work-around. Thanks!

Hey folks, I tried to do this using Google Drive, mapped to a drive letter using the SUBST command, which allows you to map directories to drive letters. I had a similar issue where upon opening rekordbox on the "synced" PC, rekordbox would erase all of my databases with initialized replacements. I'm currently trying to repeat the process, only this time using onedrive, hope to have a better outcome. Will follow your guide for mapping the drive and hope that helps.

@Tal > The database gets "wiped" and a blank default opened when there is a problem with the paths in the settings or access to the database itself, which is why it's a great idea to keep a backup when testing these unsupported configurations.

You shouldn't need to map it to a drive letter if the GDrive is already a folder in your user folders. The most important thing is having an identical path within the settings, and this requires that your username is the same on both computers.

Is it possible to transfer the Rekordbox 6 database to such a solution. The housing is connected directly to the Mac via USB. Works for me with a hard drive. Even with such a raid solution? Thanks for feeback

It is not difficult to get your Nas to appear in rekordbox. I got a Synology Nas on a windows 11 laptop. You just have to make the (music) folder you want to share in youre Nas seen as a netwerk drive in youre laptop.
I will explain this here for anybody in the future with a Nas Synology who wants or needs to do such an connection.
First you to your Synology's control panel. There you have to enable the SMB or AFP for file services. You also check the WS discovery (windows network discovery). Then you go on your laptop to the windows system. And there you have to add a network drive. With windows 11 you do that in "this computer" there you have 3 dots in the top bar near the cross (close screen). Click on the 3 dots, then map network drive. Then in the opened window choose a letter for the drive. Browse to the folder or folder within Synology that you want to share and select it. You also check the box next to 'Reconnect at login. Then you have to enter and complete your login details for your synology account. Normally, your chosen shared folder on the synology should now show up as a drive (for example, M:) in your windows explorer. When you start rekordbox program, it will also be there in the explorer, such as the C: drive.
