XDJ-RX Mic "ON" switch hissing noise

Hello -

I recently purchased a XDJ-RX and noticed a hissing/wind sound through the speakers when the MIC switch is turned to the "on" position. This sound goes off when the switch is turned back to the off position.

I was told by Pioneer to exchange the unit through the dealer (Guitar Center) if it was within their return policy due to a potential hardware issue. Well, I exchanged the XDJ-RX for a second unit and I am having the same issue. What is going on? Are both units defective?

Yes. The hissing sound happens when there is a mic connected and when there isn't a mic connected. The noticeable hissing/crackling sound begins to happen when the master volume is turned up toward 9/10o'clock and with the mic gain at same level.

The second unit is actually worse than the first. When I tried to call tech support guy on the phone pretended to not hear me twice over two calls and disconnected the call. Not the customer service I would expect from Pioneer.

Please resolve.

Okay, just checking that it wasn't one of our Zendesk voice numbers... but if they can't hear you twice, try using a different phone? (Not trying to make excuses for them, just what I would do for troubleshooting that issue!)

Does the hissing register on the master signal meter? Even if you crank the mic and master all the way open?

And the amount of hissing changes when you toggle the mic on/off or increase/decrease the mic level?

Yes, the hissing is heard when the mic switch is set to the "on" position and it completely changes to no audible sound when switched to the off position. Yes, the Mic 1, Mic 2, and Master all effect the hissing volume when in the "on" position. (Especially the master volume). There is a crackling sound in second unit that wasn't heard in first unit.

PioneerDJ Pulse -

Thank you for responding. I appreciate it. Would like to update you on more detailed information before I return this unit for the 2rd time.

When the Mic switch is in the off position with no microphone attached I can adjust the master level with no additional hissing or static sound through my QSC speakers. That is normal.

When the Mic switch is in the on or talk over position and I adjust the master level that is when I hear a loud hissing and static sound that increases as the master level is increased. That is my area of concern. This happens with a mic attached and no mic attached (same sound). If this is a hardware issue can you tell me what is wrong?

I don't have the time to wait for technical support in my region to service the unit as I need the controller for scheduled music related use. I have the option of returning to the vendor again for a 3rd unit. The first two have had this issue. Is it possible this dealer has a shipment of defective XDJ-RX controllers? (Guitar Center - Cherry Hill, NJ).

**Please note the volume of the hissing sound can be reduced (not completely) with finessing of the levels (speaker, master, and mic level). Please advise for a 100 percent confirmation that there is an issue. Thanks in advance and appreciate your time.

Cherry Hill - hey, I've passed through there on the train to AC for DJ Expo! :)

I don't know for certain that this is a bad batch, but I do know it's not a product-wide issue or we'd have more complaints about it (and neither mine nor a colleague's exhibits that problem).

As a working DJ myself, I understand the need to have gear on-hand for events, but unfortunately I feel that servicing may be the only solution as it occurs even without a microphone connected.

I have the same problem since the news with my xdj-rx.
I gave the controller for service.
The website did not remove the defect and said it should be like that ??? !! (There is no right to be so,)
I still have equipment with a microphone input defect .. (he hisses after turning on the microphone)
Now I found this post when my warranty expired and I was left with a defective commodity from Pioneer ...
Do authorized Pioneer websites work everywhere like in Poland in GDYNIA ??

Where should I seek help?

The controller xdj-rx  was on the Pioneer website:

Plac Kaszubski 8
81-350 Gdynia
Tel.: (+48) 58 661 28 00
Fax: (+48) 58 661 44 70
pioneer@dsv.com.pl

They did not remove the defect.
The technician said everything is okay ???
I still have a faulty controller - noise on the master output when the on mic switch is turned on.

Where can I send a movie with a problem.

You can send the movie to the technician; if there is a problem with the unit, they'll need to repair it for you. If it is within tolerances for the expected noise level of the mic input, then that's why he said everything is okay.
