Macbook (New) 12inch overheats with RB

Hi,

I use RB on a new macbook 12 inch, 1.2GHz Intel Core m5, 8GB of memory.

It heats up very quickly with only RB on in the background, doing nothing, not even playback, and in export mode (CPU usage was 100%. I have taken up some advice found from 2 posts (which was difficult as they were mostly insults directed towards Pioneer), and done the following:

-turned off auto analysis

-switched analysis process from performance to normal

-changed waveform drawing rate to low speed from high speed

-set the app to open in low resolution mode

CPU usage has fallen down to 50% and the mac feels less hot when RB is on.

But still not there. What else can I do?

Thanks,
Maria

@Maria > Sorry, but that computer doesn't meet the minimum computer hardware specifications required to run rekordbox:

CPU Intel® processor Core™ i7, i5, i3
Intel® processor Core™ 2 Duo 2.0GHz or above

You're running an m-series processor at 1.2GHz, which isn't as powerful as the i-series processors, which are typically found in the 2.4 to 4.2GHz range.

Coming back on this...Geekbench 4.0 benchmark shows that the standard high-end model -- the MacBook "Core i5" 1.3 12" -- is only 2% faster in single core and 5% faster in multicore tasks than the entry-level MacBook "Core m3" 1.2 12"...does this make a difference ? Even more towards a very old Core2Duo !!! Are you hiding behind a theoretical "min spec disclamer" or do you have a technical answer to give ? Thanks !!

@LFOTherapy > No, my answer was already provided: even if that MacBook was running a Core i5, the clock speed at 1.3GHz isn't sufficiently powerful.

You may notice we've even pulled the Core2Duo from the supported CPU list, because it's simply not powerful enough anymore to provide the power needed.

I didn’t saw that ..thanks for clarification ... on the other hand I have made measurements with intel power gadget and, even if base clock is about 1.3.. I run a steady 2.5 ghz with the turbo boost .. and the temperature remains under control ( 70 c ).. it’s true that the MacBook m3 is warming up and throttling during analysis ..but I prepare on another machine .. so for me ( but I’m a bedroom dj ) the MacBook m3 is working well for the fun .. have a nice day

Hi, another question related to this, would it be any problem using a Macbook 12' i7 with 1.4 GHz of base clock but with 3.6 GHz of turbo boost?

thanks!

@Andoni > If the MacBook does not have an Intel Core i3 / i5 / i7 / i9 CPU, then it does not meet the required processor requirements, regardless of the clock speeds.
