XDJ-RX Scroll knob not working

I have had a XDJ-RX for about six months, and yesterday morning while I was playing the central scroll know quit working. The "push-down" click function still works, but when the know is turned nothing happens. Every once in a while the browse menu will jump one or two spots while the knob is moving, but usually counter to the direction the knob is being turned.

Does this sound like some kind of connection issue that can be cleaned or something electrical? I live in rural Panama so it is a tough ask to get the unit to a repair specialist :(

Thanks for any help

Electronic components can and do fail, but usually not within that short a time. Seeing the scroll position jump may certainly be an indicator of a problem with the encoder knob. It certainly could be cleaned, but we aren't authorized to provide you with instruction on repair or disassembly of your hardware. Please contact Pioneer DJ support in your region for instructions or information on having the unit serviced. I understand that this may not be convenient, but at least it would be covered by warranty.

Are you surprised? I mean the search-function is brainless to say the least. Of course it will die, we have changed at least two in the last three months. To make a comparison, i ve had my CDJ 2Ks since launch. Never a single problem. Much due to the "Needledrop (Touchstrip) Simple and effective way to search if you dont have a touchscreen. But hey the strip is so expensive so its only on the higher end models. And mobile djs dont need that right?
