DDJ RZ, legacy & valuation

Hello everyone, how you doing?

First of all, I have a question about the market price of DDJ RZ. I bought mine few months after Pioneer launch DDJ 1000, it was a hard decision between these, but I decided for DDJ RZ back in 2018.

The RZ was in market since 2016, and it was easy to find in reliable places for 2k dollar when DDJ 1000 was released for $1200, a substantial difference. I decided for DDJ RZ because of the layout, above all the Decks FX that was familiar to me who used to play with mine DDJ SB1 on Serato. The possibilities of a broader control of all those FX was the goal, once I was using combo FX in DDJ SB with limitations, that was partially solved when I had jerry-rigged some shortcuts in computer keyboard. It was the right choice for me, and enabled develop my own style when mixing, all because the FX layout - I use to dissolve music in fx while transitioning between all kind of music. The beat matching is useful, but doesnt work in many situations; so these combo fx became mine secret sauce and a kind of signature.

The DDJ 1000 was a big step for Pioneer approach the experience of NexusII setup, basically the clubs standard. Its a clever choice for the most consumers, but not for me. DDJ 1000 was tempting because of the stand alone mixer FX, but it was not enough.

I never knew the reason for this big price difference; its noticeable that the hardware construction of DDJ RZ is more robust, but I suppose that isn’t only this. Are the components of DDJ RZ any better? Any substancial diference between the soundcard of it? Somebody give me the ultimate explanation, please.

I really enjoy mine DDJ RZ, but I have a serious doubt about the future legacy of the gear since it need a computer to play on decks. It will be perfectly functional e operate 10 years from now? I know its hard to answer, but I had experienced the obsolescence in digital music gadgets/gears before, so its kind of concern to me.

I hope that you can understand all I said since I'm not a native speaker.

Peace!
