Recording 4 Decks with DJM900 & Traktor Scratch 2

Hi All,

I would like to record my mix from Traktor - using all 4 decks. Is this possible with the djm 900? From what i've seen and tried it seems you have to designate a channel on the mixer as the 'mix out' channel - thus leaving you with only 3 channels/decks to mix with???

I can't for the life of me work out how this is done.

Any help and ideas would really be appreciated.

Thanks

Tom

@elastic1 > You don't really "lose" the channel when recording.

If you're looking to record your set within Traktor, see this video:

It's for the 2000, so you miss out on the setup for the mixer's soundcard, but the setup within Traktor is similar.  For the 900's soundcard, within the config utility, set the CH1 output to REC OUT and then within Traktor, you select the 900nexus 1/2 as the input source for recording.

Let me know if you need more info.

Right, i am now able to record all 4 decks - BUT - It's recording with this horrible 'crackle/fuzz' sound. Traktor is at 44.1khz, so is the 900.

I am running Traktor Scratch pro 2 (2.0.3), mac osx 10.6.8 and djm 900 (1.10), 900 settings utility - 1.1.0

I can't update the firmware to 1.2 on the 900 because no matter what LAN cable i use it just sits there 'waiting to update'. Are there any other ways i can update the firmware?

I don't think a firmware update is going to solve this 'crackle/buzz/ problem when recording. By the sounds of other users who have the 900, it's a pioneer fault with the onboard soundcard.

Hi oakstream, yes, i held down the cue and fx on/off button, then pressed power on, it entered update mode - says on the screen version 1.10, then i connected the lan cable, then started the update tool and it just sits there waiting for a connection..........

I've tried 3 different LAN cables, all the same, i know they're connecting because in the network preferences on my mac it says connected - but it stays on a yellow light, not green - as shown in the pdf update manual.

OK, Sorry I can't help you then... :( I suppose you've read the update manual and followed every step in it?

If you don't configure your network settings as described in the PDF, it won't work at all.

OK, last question. Have you more than one network cards in your computer? Have you configured the one you use to connect with DJM-900?

I don't think so. how do you configure your network card to work with the djm 900? I can't beleive you have to do all this just to update firmware.

To be honest, I was a bit surprised it wasn't via USB ... but either way ...

Does your computer have wireless?

There isn't 7 steps - i'm on Mac OSX.

I have done this -

<STEP1> Press [CUE (BEAT EFFECT)] and [ON/OFF (BEAT EFFECT)] with power button. Move to update mode.

<STEP2> Check the current version of your firmware by "current version" on VFD. (No need to update it if current version shows as x.xx. It is the latest firmware.)

<STEP3> Connect your computer with DJM-900nexus by LAN cable.

Connect LAN cable to the port of LINK on rear on the DJM-900nexus.

19C. Update the firmware by computer operation:

  1. Adjust network setting

Open "System Performance" -> "Network" -> "Ethernet" -> "Using DHCP".

  1. Confirm DJM-900nexus and the computer are connected

You can check the status of connection on "System Performance" -> "Network" -> "Ethernet".

then it says run the update tool - well when i do it just sits there and does nothing saying 'waiting for a connection'
