[CLOSED] DJM-900 Reverb Trick... If you can do this on the DJM-2000

Hey Guys,

I was watching a DJsounds.com video with Rik Parkinson playing a set. And i saw him do a really cool trick with the DJM-900.

It's a trick with the Reverb.Take a look in the video. (it's all ready at the starting point where he starts the trick)

http://youtu.be/0-AWk-gWDS8?hd=1&t=8m27s

Here's the steps i see him do.

1, filter to 1clock ( which makes it high pass filter)

2.Reverb at 100% with bpm

  1. Holds figure on x-pad ( which makes the song/beat build up )

4, moves the figure all the way to the right

5, changes the 100% to 12%

My question is can you do this trick on the DJM-2000? If so HOW?

Mr Dj Roman

Ummm the reverb effect is not even on or else the on/off button would be flashing would it not? ( it was earlier when he was poorly using the echo effect.)

I think he had the XY controller linked to the color FX some how to achieve that effect. ( I am not sure i dont own a 900, i own a 2000.)

Secondly this so called famous Dj does not even make use of any of the EQs(Bass/Mid/Treb), instead adjusts gains and high pass filters lol. That is not a good way to keep a solid level while mixing, I cant imaginw what the wave form of that recording looks like, i am surprised this moron did not have all his EQs maxed as well since everything else was already red lined lol........

The gains should be set a certain level and left there and same with the master, you should never be mixing with them. You should be using the EQs(Bass/Mid/Treb) and Hp and Lp filters when mixing.

Anyone who follows buddys example in the video is fool and will progress extremely slowly if any at all, and prolly get kicked off a few stages if u actually manage to get the gig. If a actual sound tech seen u doing that while he was monitoring the night, for sure he would have u removed and make sure everyone knows ur a idiot for almost damaging their house/rented sound system.

Pioneer u should not be allowing videos like this on your forums, you should be promoting proper ways of djing, not this red lining, and mixing with gains BS.

Are all those EQ knobs just there for looks? Seems like it to newbies when u promote videos lieke this one with a complete wanna be djing twitching and shaking all over the gear he can hardly play on. He doesn't touch a EQ the entire so called "mix", its pathetic really......

If u want some real videos Pioneer, pm and or whatever you have all my info i am a registered user and customer. Then have me come to ur studios and ill show u whats up with your gear and how to use it proper while u record a real video......

So sick and tired of everyone thinking they are a dj yet they dont even use their whole mixer, or do they even know how... Sad really...........

Thanks pioneer for ruining the Art of djing with all this Auto Sync BS, soon dance music will be as played out as pop music lip syncing and that hurtin hip/rap crap where none of them produce or make heir own beats.

Who needs to mix when u can autosync for 5 seconds then cut tracks....  <----Pioneers way

Mixing 2 tracks for 2-3 minutes, blending the beats like they are suppose to...  <--------- My way

Like i said give me a shout if u want a real dj for some videos

@MikeConstable,

"Ummm the reverb effect is not even on or else the on/off button would be flashing would it not? ( it was earlier when he was poorly using the echo effect.)"

I stopped reading your post shortly after the above statement that you made.  If you are going to have such a strong opinion about something, you should make sure you are actually well informed of what you are speaking of.  I have no beef nor am interested in having an argument but just so you know, on the DJM 900, when you touch the XY pad, you are turning the effects on.  It is a trigger button, touch is ON, touch off is instantly off.

Also, you don't always have to touch your EQ's.  If he is playing around with the Filter, he IS already (with one knob) changing the parameter of his Highs and Lows, leaving the MIDs alone.  Anyways, just thought I point out to you.

Best regards,

WW

Touche i did not know the XY controller when "touched" activated the effect on/off button. Never used it because its not 100% precise, FX that are off time even by Milli-seconds can sound terrible so i stick to the parameter buttons on the DJM-900. This is why i love the lay out of the DJM-2000, u can go to any parameter of the effect with a touch of a button and u also can jump between effects using the same method.

But i still stand by that DJ ether being a noob or he is just extremely lazy, if u are just using the hp filters to mix ur tracks ur gonna be red-lining your mixer left right and center. This is why there are 3 EQ's for bass, mids, and highs on each channel for mixing your tracks, and then u use the Color FX like the hp filter/lp filter to had some color to ur mix's/transitions. So u dont have to completely cut the lows or mids in a mix for example.

That DJ is as bad as those kids that have a 2 channel mixers with no filters and just mix using volume fader's/cross fader's ignoring all the EQ's and every other feature that mixer includes. Why would u buy a mixer with 100+features, than only use a 2-3 of them? Makes no sense...

He should have just bought a controller and hooked it up to a laptop/computer and used hp filters on looped tracks over and over in Ableton, if that is his idea of mixing..........

Mike, the DJ you're slagging off as a noob is actually one of the product developers for pioneer DJ global. I think he knows exactly what he's doing, he was part of the team that designed the mixer...
