After mapping my DJM900 to traktor 2 some of the knobs, while detected by traktor when being assigned to the mapping, are not controlling their targets. THe rest of the knobs only work to a certain extent, Changing the effects or the eqs from -30% to 60% instead of -100% to 100%. I'd appreciate any ideas or insight anyone can offer.

@DIDI > I'm just curious as to why you want to control Traktor with your DJM-900?
Do you also have CDJ's or CD players to control Traktor with as well?
It would have to do with the mapping values you would be using. Something isn't set properly and since I've never bothered to control Traktor with my 900, it would be best to play around with it and try different values and techniques.
Thanks for the response! I want to control all of traktors basic mixer functions (eq, faders, gain) on my DJM and use a different controller for the track player controls later. Ive got CDJ400s but I wanted to take care of the midi mapping on the mixer as a first step. Ive changed the sampling frequency to 44.1k and that helps but I still have issues where EQ knobs regularly jump around on traktor 2 as I turn them slowly on the DJM during a mix. Ive been remapping over and over again with the same issue and ive tried changing between the "relative" and "direct" adjustment setting for all my knobs and faders with no luck. In the long run i wanna be using ableton with a couple other controllers but at this point I dont see how that will work out any better.
Id just like to know if if anyone else has had a similar problem and if this might be a problem with a defective unit. I guess when I saw "traktor certified" i assumed this thing would have proper mapping response from the beginning.

I don't mean to offend you, but it sounds like you purchased one of the 2 best DJ mixers in the industry and you want to use it to control a $200 piece of software that almost any controller can do. In my opinion I don't think you should bother with setting up your DJM-900 to control Traktor because the DJM-900 is far better using it as the initial hardware mixer.
Yes it is Traktor Certified, but it was meant to be used with Traktor timecode and use the DJM-900's built in Sound Card so DJ's no longer need external sound cards or cables.
Since you will be using another control to work with Traktors decks, I think you will be much happier and less frustrated if you use the DJM-900's built in sound card with Traktor, but use the actual hardware mixer for it's intended purpose. ;)
You have so many more functions using the DJM-900 on it's own, rather than controlling Traktor. I hope you decide to go this route because it's far less of a headache than trying to assign everything correctly within Traktor. :)
haha i feel like a moron. I completely misunderstood the whole concept of using the DJM900 with Traktor. I thought I was being forced to use it as a midi controller but now realize how the whole external mixer concept works and it makes much more sense. I have removed all of the mappings, added in my CDJ400's and am now completely satisfied. Thanks for the help!

Can anyone comment if it is possible to layer or combine the effects of the djm 900 nexus with the softwares effects on trakto pro 2. While using the djm 900 just for the soundcard and using the two cd timecodes. I am actually making the switch to labtop as I been using cds and and started off with vinyl, finally gona make the jump.
@DJ NVASION > Sorry but no. Once you set the DJM-900 to control Traktor then you are only controlling Traktor and are not using the DJM-900 built in effects. You can layer the effects on the DJM-900 by using a Sound Color Effect and a Beat Effect at the same time.
What will you be using to control the timecode with Traktor? CDJ's?
If you're looking into going completely to your laptop, there is also the option of looking into the DDJ-T1 controller that is built specifically for controlling Traktor software.
Thanks for the feed back just clarifying by using the djm 900 for the soundcard alone with no mapping and connecting to a laptop running traktor pro 2 while utilizing two pioneer cdjs with cd timecodes you still won't be able to use both traktor pro 2 and djm 900 on board effects? If that is the case is there any way around that while still using the djm 900 and traktor pro 2 to use both onboard effects with the cdjs timecodes either it be using a audio 6 or 10 and or a adding a additional hardware to the djm 900 like a traktor X1 controller? Sorry i am new to the whole software djing thing. Have owned djm 900 since may and love it so I am trying to have the end result to be mixer connected to labtop mixer connected to two cdjs then some how utilizing both on board effects on the djm 900 and traktor pro 2.
@DJ NVASION > No you cannot use Traktor effects if you use the DJM-900 with no mapping connected to 2 CDJ's with timecode running Traktor Pro 2. You will only be able to use the on board effects on the DJM-900. However, you can add an X1 to that set up and use both the DJM-900 effects and Traktor effects. Just set the X1 to control the Traktor effects.
In my opinion, this is what I would do first:
2 CDJ's, a DJM-900 and run Rekordbox if the CDJ's have the LINK.
If you prefer to use Traktor instead of Rekordbox then I would do this:
2 CDJ's connected via USB to the computer and control the Traktor software decks, a DJM-900 mixer with it's on board effects. This eliminates using timecode CD's.
If you prefer to use timecode you should do this:
2 CDJ's running timecode CD's, a DJM-900 using built in sound card to allow Traktor to pass the signals through. This eliminates using an Audio 6 or 10 sound card.
If you want to run the DJM-900 effects and Traktor effects at the same time (which I wouldn't bother to do because the DJM-900 has superior quality effects over Traktor) you should do this:
2 CDJ's connected via USB controlling Traktor software, a DJM-900 on it's own, and add an X1 and set it to control the Traktor effects.
If you prefer to use Timecode, the DJM-900 effects, and control Traktor effects, you should do this:
2 CDJ's connected to DJM-900 using sound card connected to Traktor to send timecode information, still use DJM-900 as stand alone mixer and also add an X1 to control the Traktor effects.
I'm going to backpedal Foster's comments -- YES! It IS possible to use the 900 as a controller of the effects while running the audio through the mixer to use the effects there as well; simply use 2 channels for the audio and configure 2 channels for MIDI use within Traktor; you then have the ability to engage effects within the software and then use the hardware's effects as well.
