DJM 900 or DJM 800

Trying to decide between the two mixers.  I do use Traktor, but can get the 800 cheaper than Nexus.  Is the Nexus worth the upgrade?

part of me loves the 900 and part of me wants my 800 back,

Positives for me: (may not relate to traktor or serato dj's, I do not use either)

the 900 has better sound quality

quantize for effects when 900/2000's are connected over lan

added 2 new color effects (noise effect is great)

on air is pretty cool

effects pad is pretty handy

Negatives:

no rotary option if you like rotary knobs, although I got my 800 rotaries to fit in the 900

they butchered the echo effect, if you are a user of the echo effect and like the way it is on the 800, test the 900's before you buy it, Many users including myself hate it and hope they change something in a future FW update

if you use traktor the big advantage to the 900 is it works as your sound card which is pretty cool, that to me is a big selling point alone if I was a Traktor dj as yourself

Essentially, you are looking at two different generations of mixer - the 800 being the 'old' mixer and the 900 incorporating much newer technology.

If you think you would take advantage of the newer technology (Traktor certification / sound quality / effects / rekordbox integration / better build quality) then you are better off going for the 900. Evidently the 800 is going to be cheaper as it is older.

I own a DJM 800 and I think its the coolest, most clear sounding, well designed mixer ever. it was a very popular mixer at venues like clubs or parties in its day. I am the same I use a traktor A6 with it. so the point is that the DJM 900 nexus is traktor scratch certified and has newer design qualities. both the 800 and the 900 keep will keep there value but the 900 is a better investment cause it will keep its value more. the 900 has about 3-4 hundred dollars worth of new features. if you want to use traktor and have the coolest mixer ever get the 900 nexus. if you honestly cant afford it get the 800.

Curious if anyone's ever compared them run pure digitally in and out.  I already have the DJM800 and run it that way from CDJs through to a DSP setup to labhorns and ribbon twittered tops that require complex delays and crossovers prior to the amps.  I know the DJM900s are supposed to have improved DACs and analog output stages, so it's possible much or all of the improvement people hear is in that and not in the internal sample rate conversions and DSP.  Anyone?
