I don't think that the USB Hubs will transfer the MIDI signal or message which explains why you are seeing this too. Hopefully someone else can confirm this but I am 80% sure.

[SOLVED] DJM 900 nexus (MIDI Out Terminal or USB Terminal)
I want to midi map the channel faders and the cross fader of the 900 nexus to control Mix emergency (program for videos) Should I use the MIDI Out terminal or the USB Terminal? I tried the USB terminal and it works but when I connect the USB cable from the mixer to a powered USB hub and then to the laptop (macbook pro) there is no transmission of the MIDI messages, it only works if I connect the mixer (USB terminal) directly to the USB port of the mac. Does that mean that the solution is to use the MIDI Out Terminal (back of the mixer?) Like this..
Midi Out Terminal (900 nexus) --> MIDI Interface --> Powered USB hub --> Laptop
On page 17 of the user's manual (Operating DJ software using the MIDI function) suggest using the USB terminal, but again, it does not work if connected to a USB port

Thank you Walter. I just want to make sure before I buy a MIDI interface. Can anyone else test this on your DJM-900 nexus?
Understandable. FYI the M-Audio Uno is cheap and great for what you may need to do. USB to MIDI in & OUT

Nice, thank you, I think that is what I need. I'll let you know if it works using a USB hub. I don't have any USB ports left on my MAC, so I want to connect the USB hub to one port and connect this MIDI Sport UNO the the hub and another midi controller the the hub.
Walter. I just wanted to let you know that I purchased the UNO and it worked like a charm. This is what I did.
- Plugged the UNO MIDI connector (to MIDI out) to the MIDI out terminal of my mixer
2, Connected the UNO USB connector to one of the ports of my mac
The UNO was recognized and was able to send MIDI messages from my mixer to MixEmergency (program for videos)
Then I did this.
- Plugged the UNO MIDI connector (to MIDI out) to the MIDI out terminal of my mixer
2, Connected the USB connector to a powered USB hub
- Connected the USB hub to the same port I used to connect the UNO directly to the mac
The UNO was recognized and was able to send MIDI messages from my mixer to MixEmergency (program for videos)
Bottom line, the UNO works for what I needed. Moreover, I did not need to install any drivers for this to work, the latest UNOs are class compliment and no drivers are needed for the MAC.
Thanks again for your help.
