[SOLVED] Record set through djm 900 to laptop via usb with audacity

Iv'e started playing in a club and would like to record my mixes. The gear they have is a DJM 900 nexus and 2 cdj 2000 nexus', unfortunately the way that every site says to record (RCA to line in jack on laptop) will not work for me as I don't have line in on my laptop (old school windows xp). However it seems i can plug a usb - midi cable into the back of the mixer and then run Audacity to record straight from that. Basically my question is will that work by simply using audacity and a usb cable, will windows xp work and if so what software do i need apart from Audacity (if any). Cheers

Hi Lukas,

Yep plug the USB into the top of the mixer and then into you're laptop. Make sure you have the DJM 900 utility installed (you can download it from Pioneer), this will assist with sorting out recording levels etc. Load up Audacity, select DJM 900 and then simply hit record and then you are good to go mate. Very simple, very easy to set up and the quality is pretty good.

Hope this helps mate,
