Just wondering if anyone has, and whether they regret doing so or encourage other to do the same...
I've seriously thought about it based on recommendations from my friends but at the moment have too many sentimental memories attached to my HD25s.

Just posted in the previous thread, but I have. Admittedly I still have both but my HD25's have taken place in the bottom draw.
The HDJ2000's are great cans, you will not regret the purchase, and the sound quality is very similar.
+1 for HDJ2000's

Hmm - I doubts somewhat about the 2000's. Maybe the sound would be mich better, but...
my 1000' break, like a lot of others done...

... so I'm not shure if Pioneer learned about the problems and the 2000's pricing ist not like it doesn't mater, what will happen with the stuff...
The HDJ-2000s are in a totally different class to the HDJ-1000s. The 1000s were good, but they were too bassy and squeezed your head. I'm not sure about them breaking though - I didn't use mine very much as they came free with my DJM-800 on release. I still have them and use them for listening occasionally.
I would find it difficult to compare the 1000s and 2000s as they're a world apart. I also cannot stand the HD25s at all - ugly, uncomfortable, fiddly and awkward. Your choice, in my view, is obvious. :)
Oh and Gavin, on the note of BPM show swag, I could do with another backup pair of headphones... ;)

i have both.... and cant agree that the pioneer 2000's are better in any way shape or form!
i was one of the unlucky owners of the 2000s that broke after a coulpe of weeks studio use - wasnt amused as none of the pioneer support team seemed to think there was a problem or weakness in any of the hinges... In the end the chaps at pioneer sent me a used set of cans through just to shut me up!
I very rarely use my 2000s now as im worried about breaking them - i only use them where i can ensure they will not be put in harms way.
To that end lets talk about the sound quality in comparison to the sennheiser's!
Each and every recording studio and filming outfit i know use the 25s - they say the 25s are very neutral sounding and offer very good clarity with a good bass response! I tend to agree on this... the 25s are much better for studio monitoring... theres a but coming... the 2000s cover most peoples ears as the cans are much bigger than the 25s, so for dj use the external noise isolation is a little bit better... you could also argue that the 2000s have a better cable system with the mini xlr connector - not had to replace but sennheiser charge £40 for a replacement cable for the 25s... the comfort level on both cans is about the same - but with all the hinges on the 2000s theres a lot more configurations over the 25s (how many of these would you use?).. doubt i would buy these on that feature alone!
for me the 25s win hands down... ive had the 25s for TEN years and not had one thing go wrong - a set of replacement foam pads and cable in 10 years isnt bad in my book... but a 100+ fee to fix the broken hinge on a few week old pair of cans in my book is way too extreme.. these cans wouldnt take the typical roadie treatment and they are probably bought by djs who want matching kit (like me)! At the time i got a new cdj700 & 2x cdj2000s.. while spending this amount on fancy kit another 200, or whatever it was, was hardly a big deal...
however, if they are being given away at bpm in a goodie bag, with the hotel room nos, of the pioneer girls... i would most certainly be in the queue ;)

I still use HD25's, in fact I recently bought a new set to replace my 15 year old ones "which still work fine". The 2000's are much more comfortable, especially if you wear specticles and the bass depth is superior, that is the problem for me.
I find the HD25's a bit easier to mix with because they make kick drums stand out better, in the 2000's I find its all it bit "muddier" down there. "I'm mixing Hard House, Trance, Hard Trance, Uplifting Trance mainly"
On an 8 hour flight though, the 2000's will stay on my head the whole time and that extra bass extension sure comes in handy, I tend to use mine as my MP3 player phones now, as they sound superb for this, and back to useing the 25's for mixing.
HD25's are definitely the duck's nuts when it comes to DJing, bass is way too harsh for general listening/production though.
I think after getting a custom set of earplugs with a -10db reduction and trialling them out with my HD25's on Friday night, any curiosity of the HDJ2000's have gone out the window. (The club I normally play out has a perfectly designed DJ booth, with just enough foldback from the floor to know if the sound cuts out so you don't end up dancing like a muppet with your headphones (not that it's ever happened there), but not so much that you don't have to crank your booth and headphones to the point where it hurts your ears. Unfortunately they've moved the DJ booth to a staged area where the complete opposite is true.....)
Did just order a pair of Beyerdynamic DT990's for studio use though, can't wait to check them out.

THANK YOU for this thread! I was just looking at HDJ1000's and HDJ2000's thinking about ditching the HD25's. I'm glad I've stuck with mine and wont need to spend the money to find out I don't like/need/want the HDJ's!
I have my hd25 2's for over 6 years now.
Only changed the earpads.
I bought the hd2000's a couple of years ago.
HD2000's are more bottomheavy. Where the Sennheisers respond more natural.
Also the sennheisers are much lighter, which makes them more comfortable for longer sets.
Only thing about the sennheisers is that the original cable is a bit too short for me.
But they can be replaced by a coiled cable.

No just the opposite, im in favor for my HD25 before HDJ 2000, wich in my opinion are worse then my $100 sony as it comes to quality issues.
Ive got my HDJ 2000 replaced two times, and they had the same issue regarding dropouts in sound, and it has nothing to do with the cable!
Ive used my Hd25 for over 5 years spinning music for about 2-4 times a week, and not one issue!
My first HDJ 2000 got broken after about two hrs at my first gig, second one kept going for about a week, and seriously im getting fed up sending it for Reapair / Replacement, im not sure if i can manage to send them in again, and have them broken a third time!
