HDJ1000 And HDJ2000 Earpads are interchangable

I treated myself to some new HDJ2000 ear-pads the other day as the originals were getting tatty.

So I had some original HDJ2000 ear-pads sitting around. The thing I love most about the HDJ2000s are the ear-pads. I hate ear-pads that actually sit on your ear, so I thought I would try and fit the HDJ2000 ear-pads on my HDJ1000s and sure enough they fitted. NO MODIFICATION.

I lil tight to fit but once they are on they fit/sit fine.

Just thought I would let you guys know if you wanted the cup style ear-pads on your HDJ1000s or if alternatively you wanted flat HDJ1000s pads on your HDJ2000s.

Picture Attached!

Enjoy!

The right ear piece of my HDJ-1000s snapped off completely a few weeks ago. :(  Never mind though!  They were my backup-backup headphones, 5 years old and were free. :)

I went through 2 pairs of the 2000s, but found them very uncomfortable. I know it goes against most everyone else's experience, so it's possible that the shape of my head has something to do with this, but in my opinion the headband on the 2000s is way too close to the side of the head, right above the earcups and it really bothered me after wearing them for extended period. Went back to 1000's with the earpads from 2000s. Most comfortable headphone Ive had.

Is there a video or tutorial regarding replacing the ear pads on the HDJ2Ks?

Are the ear pads available through Pioneer only?

Thanks in advance for the help

@DJMBR > There's no video, but it's not difficult to do - simply place your fingers inside the ear pad and pull outwards, away from the center of the hole toward the outer edge, and you'll see the pad pull out of the channel on the outer edge of the headphone.

Yes, the pads are only available through Pioneer - I don't believe that any dealer would have them in stock.

How difficult is to re-seat the new pads?

Any recommendation on what type of tool to properly install the new pads in the channel?

It's super easy, just use your fingers and repeat the process in reverse.

Gavin/Pulse,

I need new pads for my 1000. Emailed pioneer and no reply after I told them I don't have the receipt (they are 9 month old). They've begun to shred already :( with hardly any use. A bit disappointing.

Anyhow, I looked on line and pioneer doesn't have anymore ( http://parts.pioneerelectronics.com/part.asp?productNum=WNV1101 ) do you guys certify the 2000 pads if I had to purchase them? I really don't want to get stuck with them if they aren't going to sit there right...

Please advise.

Thanks

Oh and what is WNV1133?

Apparently I can substitute for that part number but no image.

@walter > I'm really not sure. I would encourage you to ring the tech support number rather than email as it would be much faster.
