The HDJ-1500s are newer however I find the HDJ-2000s are better sounding - how did you find them, in terms of comfort and the difference between the two?

Follow[SOLVED] HDJ 2000 sound insulation
Today, I "tested" HDJ-2000 and HDJ-1500 headphones at my local Pioneer distributor and noticed that HDJ-2000 have much worse (almost non existent) sound insulation compared to the 1500 model (or my old HD25s).
Has anyone else noticed anything similar, or is it just my ears/head combo, that is causing the problem?

Much more comfortable. They fit better and more consistently and also feel more securely held on my head. The ear pads of the 1500s sit on my ears whereas that of the 2000s don't.
I think my relatively protruding ears and a skull that tapers off rather quickly behind the ears would require thicker ear pads (for better sound insulation). This might be a suggestion for the next model (or a new accessory/option for the existing).
I will try both headphones at least once more before I decide and post updates, if any.
Yeah, thats what I thought. The HDJ-2000s fit nicely around my ears and I find they isolate the noise pretty well but everyone is different. The important thing is you go with what you like and find comfortable.
I've tested the 2000s twice more since then and can now report adequate sound insulation (maybe slightly worse than the 1500s), seems I didn't position them optimally when I first tried them on. I must say they sound exactly as I wanted my new headphones to sound.
@Gasper > Great stuff, glad you enjoyed the sound and quality of them. Did you pick up a pair?
Yes. I used them for a gig earlier today/yesterday and I must say I'm really happy with the purchase.
Great, congrats on your purchase!
