cdj 1000 hot cue and sd/mmc card question

1. To save Hot Cues, you can either do it on the fly or preset them. On the fly, you just do the same thing but while the track is playing. To preset, you should browse through a track until you find where you would like to set your Hot Cue "A". You can fine adjust it by switching between CDJ and Vinyl Modes and make sure you get it right on beat/note. When you have it right where you want the Hot Cue, press the "Rec/Call" button below the Hot Cues and they will turn Red. Once they are Red, you can press the "A, B, or C" Hot Cue marker depending on which one you would like it to be under. Once you it it, you can then press the "Rec/Call" button again and your chosen letter "A, B, or C" will now be lit in Green. This means you have that letter saved as a Hot Cue.
   

You can also do the same with saving Hot Loops. You can create a loop using the "In/Out" buttons on the CDJ, then fine tune the In and Out points by pressing either the "In or Out" marker again and moving the Jog Wheel. This will alter the point so you can create a perfect loop. Once you have a perfect loop made and you want to save it as a Hot Loop, you will need to be in the current loop you want to save, then you can press the "Rec/Call" button and all the letters turn Red again, even if you have a Hot Cue or Hot Loop saved. Then you can select that loop to be under any of the 3 letters "A, B, or C". If you choose a letter that already has a Hot Cue or Hot Loop assigned, it will overwrite the previous Hot Cue or Hot Loop. So you can only have 1 at a time. Either 1 Hot Cue, or a 1 Hot Loop on each letter at any time. To exit, you press the "Rec/Call" button again and the Hot Cues will be lit in Green, and the Hot Loops will be lit in Yellow. Then to exit the loop you press the "Reloop/Exit" button to the right of the "In/Out" buttons. Simply enough, if you want to recall that last loop, just hit the "Reloop/Exit" button and it will go right back into the last loop you were in.

cheers for response, i'm using or trying to use the sd card slot to save cues.. i have read quite abit about this and know you can't play tracks. i want to use it to save cue points and hot cues. i still have no card so maybe thats why i can't save my hot cues, but i know how to save my cues.. which i'm able to do minus a card.

The CDJ-1000's only read SD cards. I think it would be easiest to make sure the card is 2GB or less in size and double check it only says SD. Saving Cue Points and Hot Cues don't take up much room on a card, and a 2GB card would be overkill in my opinion. The cards provided with the 1000 MK3's were only 64MB I believe, so as you can imagine, they don't need to be too big. :)

Yes, that would be why they aren't saving.

What do you mean you're able to save your Cue's without the card? Like where the track will start on load up? The CDJ's should be assigned to load the Cue (provided auto cue is turned on) at a certain volume level. -24db or something as a rough guess. As soon as the CDJ recognizes that level during playback, the Auto Cue is enabled at that point. As far as I know that is how it works. ( It could be a bit different, but it's close I believe)

16MB is the max for data, but as @Foster says, will read up to a 1GB card.

i  am able to save my cue points for some strange reason i was thinking there might be something in built..

this is my 1st 1000 so don't know what i should of got with it.. all i know is that there is no manual, which would be useful. defo able to save cues thou, i do this by setting it and then pressing memory, red line under number..

how do you guys save hot cues when you do>

still have the sd card issue thou, i read up online and they were like it does not take sd cards, has to be a mmc card.guys if you could suggest somewhere to get it from that would be a great help, save me getting the wrong one.

Yes that's my bad. It takes MMC (Multimedia Cards) I don't know if you can buy these for retail anymore, and they will be hard to find in my opinion as they are older technology. I believe they were replaced by SD cards, although still manufactured for a while. 

I think you're going to have to find some second hand MMC's or try your luck online.

I would recommend picking up a lower sized card as you want to make sure it will be read properly. 128MB will be plenty in my opinion as you can delete them as well.

@Jon > Hmm, it's tough to say exactly as it mentions the previous version of mmc cards has been discontinued, and the new version has been available since 2007.

Looking at the picture, I don't know if the card manufacture date was in '07, as it says "Date: 43/07". I honestly don't know what the "43" could stand for though.... lol

The CDJ-1000 was introduced in July 2001 and discontinued in 2003, so it's hard to say if it would be compatible with a newer mmc card, even if they say the new mmc cards are backwards compatible with the old mmc.

I'm thinking you should be okay to use it, but if it doesn't work, hopefully you used that seller because they accept returns. :)

sorry to bring up an old thread but I read something that I had a question on. Regarding the recordable size on a sd card...it will only save up to 16 mb? I need to buy some and was going to go with 64mb cards but if they can only go up to 16mb then I guess the rest would be wasted space. Thanks!

Correct, the rest would be wasted space but the odds of finding only 16MB cards are slim, and even if you did, you likely wouldn't be paying any less for them than a 64MB card.

16MB will hold roughly 1million memory points and waveforms.
