[SOLVED] Mep 7000?

Hi,I am looking to possibly buy the MEP 7000 but wanted to ask some advice first.

I am a mobile DJ who mainly does weddings and school dances (serious stuff I know but it's good money). I am currently 70% digital and 30% CD based (still in the process of converting thousands of CDs) I need to have the ability to play CDs when I need to but would like a rack mounted MIDI controller.

I have a macbook pro that I am running MIXXX with now. This program was great to show me that digital is the way to go but severely limited.

I have a few ?s before I make the purchase. I was reading and it suggest that an external sound device be used as an interface between the mac and the MEP if the mac does not have a soundcard with 2 outputs. Is this true or does the built in soundcard on the MEP take care of that? I would like to incorporate the MEP to a 4 deck system that I have now but still have the same que sample ability. Next ? would be what software program would be best for someone who doesn't do much mixing or beat matching but still needs the MEP to function without mapping (I have found that to be above my current abilities)? My next ? is what is needed to connect the MEP to my system the best possible way? ie from the Mac to the MEP, and from the MEP to the board? I know I sound like an idiot but I want to do my homework before buying something I do not know anything about. I have used a couple of MIDI controllers on other peoples systems but never got to see how it was setup.

Any advice would be helpful.

The audio interface built-in to the MEP is a 4/0 device; four outs, zero ins.  It is more than adequate for sending the audio from any DJ software application to your mixer as separate channels.  All you need to do is connect the MEP to the computer via USB, then the audio outputs from the MEP to the mixer, either analog or, if your mixer supports it, the digital connections.

Let us know if you have any other questions.

Has pioneer ever fixed the issue of the mep7000 still transmitting data to Dj software
I have a fellow Dj in my company that has the mep7000 djm5000

He wants to be able to cue and play CDs and USB along side of virtual Dj
Yet when he selects cd the MEP still sends controller data to VDJ making it impossible to cue a cd track
Without messing up VDJ

He bought the system under the impression it could do that but I have found on posts both on VDJ and pioneer that is is a know issue or shortcoming of the unit

Any ideas otherwise he is going to dump his $3000 investment for a numark mix deck quad

Pulse - is this going to be corrected in a future firmware upgrade? If I'm in CD mode, I'd clearly not want the controller messing the software.

I am also looking to buy an MEP and like the original poster am looking to do my homework on Controllers and Software.  I've been using a CMX-1000 for about 10 years, love it, but it's old and slowly getting slower.  All my new music is coming in digital and I am working to convert my old CDs to digital as well.

I have been thinking about Traktor and the MEP.

Do you have any advice?

@EW > Its important to remember that the MEP is now considered legacy gear so you may be better off considering some of the newer gear available such as one of the controllers (DDJ-T1 for example) or CDJs + DJM.
